Default Broncos encourage fans to make alternative transportation plans on game day with RTD's continued suspension of BroncosRide

DENVER — The Denver Broncos are encouraging fans to make alternative transportation plans on game days this season with the continued suspension of BroncosRide operated by Regional Transportation District (RTD).

Suspended by RTD in March 2020, BroncosRide provided bus services directly to Empower Field at Mile High (and formerly Mile High Stadium) for Broncos games. Over the last 10 years, the service accommodated approximately 6,700 riders per game.

"While we are disappointed BroncosRide will not be available for fans, we're encouraged through talks with RTD that their scaled-up rail services—similar to when the city hosted MLB All-Star Week—will provide reliable means of transportation on game days," Broncos Director of Events & Booking Jon Applegate said. "We're excited to welcome back all of our fans and encourage them to plan ahead before each game."

    Really strange decision by RTD.

That they don't want people packed on a light rail train?

You can get around that anyways, just take whatever bus east/west to get to Federal, then take the 31 north/south. Lot less crowded and cheaper. BroncosRide is super easy, but not an absolute necessity to travel by bus to the games outside of night games, those could get a bit hard.

For me, I would just take the light rail into dowtown, switch to the train that stops at Mile High. Eazy peezy and it runs late.

The first year I did the light rail from a night game, my ass got lost in the industrial area down there near Colfax and Mariposa....friggen surprised I didn't end up dead that night. Sketch as hell!

Whatever you do, DON'T park in the lots around area campus for only $10 like I do that are basically where RTD drops you off at the lightrail anyway. And ESPECIALLY don't park at a meter on those streets for free if its a Sunday. That would suck. WINK

Seriously though its like the best kept secret. No one parks in those lots off of Walnut near the school and its like a 10 minute walk and you get to bypass all the stadium traffic on your way out.

That's where I have always parked then just do the short walk over.

Funny story, years ago when we had the blizzard game, I lived in Green Mountain. I was in 9th grade at the time. My Dad had two tickets to the game against SD and was heading up to the mountains to ski. He thought to leave them with me in case he got stuck, which he did. So I got a buddy of mine and we rode the RTD downtown and eventually to old Mile High. Well the way back the weather had gotten so bad the busses had quit running and it was chaos. We were trying to walk back to downtown and a train pulled through that 'sports walk' area or whatever they call it now, back then it was just chain link fence and hobo city. The damn train stopped. My buddy climbed across. As I am climbing across it starts up again. Seeing the fence coming up I jumped off in the nick of time. We then got stranded downtown near the Capitol and my buddy's mom (RIP) came and rescued us. No moral to that story, just the lengths we went to in order to watch a game. Clinched the division that day and the game itself was a blast.
