Seriously ... Tell me, who’s gonna say Lock had a better situation going into game 1?

I think this is a mixed bag.

Lock is in a rough situation regarding being a sophomore QB as that's generally hard.

Lock had Sutton and Hamler out. Not only does that hurt for that game, but it takes away time to play with one another. During covid, that especially stings.

It's rough that covid has taken away training camp and the like.

That makes it rough regarding a new offensive coaching staff.

Lindsay getting dinged up also is rough.

    However:

The line played well against a tough defense first team. This includes Bolles, who played well against one of the best pass rushers in the league in Clowney.

Lock still has a decent amount of weapons to throw at. This is in spite of those injuries.

Lock also has a wonderful defense to play with.

He has an OC with a solid track record.

He has Sutton coming back, and Hamler, too. So there are a ton of weapons when the team isn't being shat upon by the injury Gods.

    Mixed bag.

    Respectfully submitted.

exhausting, or exhausted? maybe he's just grumpy because he didn't get his nap before the game. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Unpopular thought: We still lose that game even if Vic calls our times out properly. We just have a few more attempts on offense and end up with the same result.

That doesn't absolve Fangio. Total clock mgt failure. But it didn't cost us the game. Nothing in that second half points to certainty of a score if we had two or three more plays.

Yeah probs. Jeudy's drops and Lock's misreads I thought were the most egregious fails. It's certainly not oh noes territory yet. But I'm mad pessimistic right now!! Need a big savage Broncos W next weekend to soothe my soul.

Everyone is rusty because they didn't have pre-season games. They played for the time without Von Miller, Todd Davis, Chris Harris Jr, Derek Wolfe, and Courtland Sutton. Everything will get better soon.

Default Denver Broncos Running Back Phillip Lindsay Dealing With ‘Turf Toe’

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)– Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay is dealing with a turf toe issue, and his status for Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh is still undecided. Lindsay suffered the injury in the Broncos season opening loss to the Tennessee Titans.

According to FootHealthyFacts.org, “turf toe” is a sprain of the big toe joint and it usually results from excessive upward bending of the big toe joint. The website goes on to state, “the condition can be cause from either jamming the toe or from repetitive injury when pushing off repeatedly when running or jumping.”

Deion Sanders is among the more famous athletes who have suffered from turf toe.

The severity of turf toe can vary from incident to incident, and can often lead to a player missing a week or two, although it’s too early to speculate on how long Lindsay might be out.

We should know more about his status for Sunday’s game when the Broncos return to practice on Wednesday.

There's always 2021, assuming we make it that far.

No but it was at least something, i grew up watching a certain QB who often made the most incredible things happen with very little time left. Better to have a shot than no shot at all.

You're probably right, but this still kinda misses the point. I'd rather lose because we played the strategy perfectly and just weren't good enough to execute than not even have a chance to try to execute because the coach effed it up. Having the chance to drive in the last minute for a winning score would have been great experience for Lock, even had it failed. Fangio robbed him of the chance to get that experience.
