I was low key hoping Dallas let him hit the market ever since his injury.

KC makes Mahomes the richest player in NFL history then destroys the offensive line within two months of losing in the Super Bowl. Interesting.

NFL's proposed rule changes include onside kicks and jersey numbers

The NFL will consider several intriguing rule changes this offseason that have been proposed by the competition committee and teams.

Default Alex Smith, reigning NFL Comeback Player of the Year, announces retirement from football

Longtime quarterback Alex Smith announced his retirement Monday, capping a 16-year journey that started as the first overall draft pick and ended after his improbable return from a gruesome injury.

Smith, who turns 37 next month, announced his decision in a 2 minute, 12-second video posted to Instagram, saying he wants to spend more time with his family. He was released by the Washington Football Team last month but was the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2020 for getting back on the field after an injury two years earlier that nearly cost him his right leg.

"Even though I've got plenty of snaps left in me, after 16 years of giving this game everything I've got, I can't wait to see what else is possible," Smith said in the video. "But first, I'll take a little time to enjoy a few of those walks with my wife, and my kids have no idea what's coming for them in the back yard."

Kudos to him for coming back at all but that was just uncomfortable to watch him play on one leg. Glad he didn't get hurt again. I could see him being a QB coach or OC now.

Maybe that’s why he retired? No team wants to watch his hurt that leg again on their watch?

I think he’d make a great coach but he would qualify as the typical former player that’s far too much money to need to live like an NFL coach ... 16 hour days, putting up with Drew Lock’s cockiness and Hankins entitlement.

Not really "news" but this play popped up on my Twitter feed and couldn't really find a great thread for it.

I've said this here before, but in my opinion Vick is the most physically gifted athlete I've ever seen on an NFL field. That year he had in Philly after being away from football for years was just ridiculous. Dude could have been the GOAT if he'd stayed out of trouble and really dedicated himself to football.
