Unfortunately, Sundquist's site isn't up anymore, but I think this quote was taken from it, or he said pretty much the same thing.

    HOW AND WHEN TO SPEND
It's not just about having room under the cap. It's also about having cash available.

'Fans don't necessarily get this one - and I don't think the media always does, either. You have rich teams and poor teams. Everybody's playing with 'Monopoly money,' so to speak, but it matters when the cash arrives,' Sundquist said. 'Maybe we offer $20 million in the first year, but it's a $10 million payment right away, $5 million in November, another $5 million in February, when there are season-ticket renewals and money is coming from other sources. And then the agent says, 'This other team will give us $20 million right now in March.''

In the article that used to be on his site, he went into more detail, but bottom line, the Broncos didn't have the cash to pay player bonuses whenever the need came up, but instead were living hand to mouth from a cash perspective.

Broncos average ticket price is $111, so 75,000 tickets times 10 games is $83,000,0000 that they are losing. Season ticket holders were given an option to get a refund, or have this years payment cover next years tickets. Either way, even if they don't have to refund all of that $83 million this year (I'm sure they will wind up refunding a big chunk of it), they are losing the money, because normally they would get $83 million this year from ticket sales and $83 million next year, but instead they are going to get a total of $83 million for this and next year.

With the whole stadium corporation thing they have, I'm not sure if the Broncos take in any money from concessions and stuff, but even if they don't, that money is used for stadium improvements and other stadium related expenses, probably including paying bonds/loans, etc., and there will be zero, or much reduced, revenue from that depending on if there are people in the stands at any point.

I read an article that put the other money (concessions, team store, parking, sponsorship, etc.) at another $80 million or so, so they will lose about $160 million in revenue, or about 1/3 of their total revenue.

The Broncos, with their ownership situation, might not have the ability to reach into the owner's pocket to make up the shortfalls.

Ticket sales go 60% shared and 40% to the league pool. So the Broncos lost share there is $50 million. The TV revenue that teams received in 2018, per the Packers’ stock holders release, is $274 million. It’s a hit, and a traditionally cash poor Broncos team will take a hit and will probably have to do some layoffs of team personnel. But they will still be in the black.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
