Default Broncos' Jurrell Casey says Titans discarded me like 'trash' with trade

Jurrell Casey said Monday that the way the Titans traded him to the Broncos after nine seasons in Tennessee was equivalent to throwing him away "like a piece of trash."

The defensive tackle discussed the trade on the Double Coverage podcast, hosted by the New England Patriots' Devin and Jason McCourty. Casey was a former teammate of Jason McCourty with the Titans.

"The part that is so crazy is that you give so much to them. Especially when you come up on free agency and have opportunities to go somewhere else. Especially the way it was going when we were there, 2-14, 3-13," Casey said to Jason McCourty. "Those were some rough times. When you're a loyal guy and you feel like things are going in the right direction and you're that centerpiece, you got no choice but to fight it through. My mindset was to stick it out and things would get better.

He's going to bust their heads come week one! Then he's going to bust more heads in the following weeks.

lol, carol's too quick for me, as usual. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Lot of our new guys doing some talking this year. That could be really good, or really bad, lol.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

indeed. . . although, i'd rather hear a bit of chirping from an established, high level vet than read a piece about KJ hamler's trash talking. . .

That's mostly because you hate wide receivers and are a poop.

So I guess I'm the only 1 here that has a problem with him being a cry baby? Player trades has been part of the business of pro sports since they started paying players well over a hundred years ago. Teams who what to improve their rosters decide a player (or players) they can get by trading will help them more then than the player (or players) they have to give up in order to get that player (or players). Players taking it personal shows a lot of immaturity that could be problematic in the future, such as when they cry about "being disrespected" during contract negotiations because the team isn't willing to offer them as big of a contract as they believe they deserve.

He’s not gonna be here for long. We will use him up and send him on his way. I’m sure he will hate us too. Loyalty gets you nothing in sports anymore.

They are pro athletes. They have egos. I'd rather a guy be pissed off he was traded than be happy about it

Cassey had a deep relationship with the era and the team. He's not a cry baby. He's one of the team leaders and a fixture in that locker room. That's sort of his point - he grinded away hard as hell and was there when the team was utter trash. That's why it hurts so badly. Because something he largely helped build is now taken away from him. Unfairly? Nope, it's a business. Was it shitty for a team leader and beloved guy to not get a heads up from the team? It's bad hat, and he has a point.

Read the article. His gripe isn't that he was traded it was that he didn't know until it went down and nobody from the team reached out to him.

I'd be upset in his shoes as well.

i may be a poop. . . but saying i "hate" WRs is hyperbolic and untrue. . . not wanting to over-invest in them when i see significant holes at positions i deem more important to team success isn't hate. . .

You do hate them though. You always bag on the position. It's hurtful. Especially when we had nothing but Sutton and two guys fell to us. You'll always be like "name all the HoF WRs with rings," and then I do and you ignore it. Then I'll post some of the data about how investing in the position translates to wins and you ignore it.

You hate me and WR's and it makes me sad.

I just want Dogfish to be nicer to WR's. We basically drafted Marvin Harrison and T.Y. Hilton. That's great!
