*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Default Floyd Little, one of Syracuse football’s legendary 44s, has cancer: ‘toughest fight of his life’

Syracuse, N.Y. — Hall of Fame running back Floyd Little, part of a legendary trinity of running backs who wore No. 44 at Syracuse University, has cancer, a teammate said today.

Little is fighting a treatable but aggressive form of cancer, said former teammate Pat Killorin, who is organizing a fundraiser to help Little.

Little, 77, is one of the most revered and celebrated sports figures in Syracuse.

Among SU football royalty, Little has for the last decade been its most visible and accessible icon, becoming a staple at games and various community functions and captivating audiences with stories from a rich life.

Default Former Broncos star Billy Thompson says teammate Floyd Little 'is going to fight' cancer

DENVER — On numerous occasions in recent years, Floyd Little has referred to Billy Thompson as his best friend.

Thompson received a blow a few weeks ago when he learned from his good friend and longtime Broncos teammate that Little had been diagnosed with cancer.

Thompson said that Little, who now lives in Las Vegas, will begin treatment this week.

"The good thing is it's treatable," Thompson said. "It's an aggressive form of cancer but treatable.

"I told him if he needed anything, I can come there, whatever. He said, no. I could tell in his voice he was feeling a little weak. He said, 'I’ll be in touch.' "
