At least 48 hours. The world is complicated and saddening.

I understand why people want to harm these offenders, but that will land them in jail too.
In this case, as opposed to the Omaha situation, it sounds like the potential "sexual assault" of his son occurred "at same time" so I would expect Latimer's attorney could invoke the "heat of passion" defense. Not sure how that would potentially reduce the charges and/or sentence in this case, but would assume fairly significantly since it reduces murder to manslaughter if proven.

So we are not sure if the child was assaulted? Should we wait 48 hours on that hearsay too? Just trying to see if i got this right.

We should. We *should*. However, speculation is fine so long as it's presented as such. In my opinion.

Thats basically what im getting at. We know for a fact that Latimer was arrested for various crimes, what we dont know if there was actually a child assaulted yet people are already jumping to the conclusion that one was yet people are lecturing others on "wait until the full story comes out" while assuming one over the other. Funny how that works. Lol

I am going to presume a few things. Which means I'm already ******. But, for sake of conversation, I think what happened here is people go "what to hear more about the inititial crime," because it's just allegations, it's newish, the investigation is going on, etc and we've seen how that works both ways. There have been actors on both sides of that equation who look good/bad and then turn out to be the opposite, or somewhere in between.

But, when you have a lawyer basically saying "nah guys, we're good," and that's sort of how the lawyer's statement reads to me, and you have the accusation of child molestation in some regards, that on a general level feels different. So, especially if you're a parent, you're going to feel that sort of way, presuming it's true.

Your point is on target. It would be a strange irony if someone got assualted with a gun and then accused falsely of child endangerment/rape.

Sorry that i didn't make it clear that I meant "if the allegations of sexual assault are true". I was trying to draw the distinction between the man in Omaha who just shot the "sex offender" he say on the street in his neighborhood and a parent who learns their child was or may have been sexually abused by an individual and takes retaliatory actions.

My comment wasnt really directed at anyone in particular. Just the general feel of the thread and how people seemed defensive that people were calling out Latimer for getting arrested and then turning around and proclaiming victory over what amounts to nothing more than allegations. If the attitude is to wait a certain time limit before commenting on anything than that should certainly apply to everything involved in the case. BUT, the only facts are as of right now is that Cody was arrested for various crimes including menace and firing a firearm at a poker game. Everything else with the case is only speculation based off an allegation at this point.
