Default Tom Brady's move to Tampa Bay posed late challenges for TV networks

Tom Brady's move to Tampa Bay didn't just create ripples with fans. It caused networks to drastically rework their last-minute requests with the NFL scheduling office to make sure the Buccaneers got as many high-profile dates as possible.

When the NFL's regular-season schedule was announced on Thursday night, all of the league television partners were satisfied with how Tampa Bay's games were distributed. The Bucs are slated to make five prime-time appearances (one Thursday, two Sunday night, two Monday night) with all of them slated between Weeks 5-12. That's a pretty big audible for a team that was expected to have maybe two at best before signing Brady.

Backfire for the networks? I doubt it. People will watch Bucs games in droves this year, many hoping to see it crash and burn.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I dont know, nobody really hates the Bucs but if they have a losing record and Tommy is playing like ass i highly doubt they would get much enjoyment out of it. At least compared to watching the Pats crash and burn.

I suppose a little of the hatred is gone because Bill isn’t attached, but I doubt most of it is gone. That Brees-Brady opener is going to have massive ratings. I think NFL ratings, if they play, should be up this year.

Maybe her issue is that Tom Brady's popularity provides the networks with the rating that make them money.

This is no different than when we signed Peyton, really. That also gave us 5 primetime games a year.

When the Celtics signed Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen there was a delay in the NBA releasing their TV schedule as they scrambled to get the Celtic's on significantly more prime time games.

    ^True facts.

I remember when Peyton was here Denver games were on tv a LOT. Popular players often get top billing with their games especially QB's.

Why give Carol grief? Maybe she just doesn’t want to see Brady on tv. Why does it bother you for her to express that sentiment?

I dont really see anyone giving her grief to be honest and frankly if she doesnt want to see him she can just turn the channel so i think its a pretty easy way to solve that particular problem anyway. Lol
