At the time of drafting...even working backwards no one would taken Nelson over Chubb. Because people on the board realized, over time, when they calmed down, that you can draft a line as opposed to only doing first rounders...

And then they realized, after some time, that huge investments in the line ala the Cowboys and Titans...they don't ******* win championships anymore than any other style of build.

This is the argument people made when they don’t want to draft WR’s, I’ve never made this argument.

The issue is that stats indicate that investing in WRs does pay off. I can produce those if you wish, Brother Jaded.

Shaq Barrett played awesome for Tampa. He also was in a contract year. He got the franchise tag.

But better than Chubb? Right now you have to say yes. But from the limited tape we have on Chubb.....he is just plain crazy good. Smart, understands space, positioning, game situation, everything.

    Chubb is the real deal.

    We'll see this year.

Shaq Barrett is the Jarius Jackson of defense.

Drafting Nelson and Risner at the same time means you basically forgo addressing real team needs. Chubb plays a complete game...Nelson is....a guard.
I just woke up from a nap and I'm feisty.

People need to understand that guard is probably the easiest position on the line. LT is brutal. Center is brutal, albeit no one cares about it. Right tackles often face great pass rushers given the state of the game, and they also have to actually run block against hosses.

When is the last time someone ever said "That guard won us that game," or "god dammit, I'd sure trade my good LT for a good LG," or "we really scheme around the guards and they do well?" and then, if you can find that statement, how many rings has that resulted in?

Does anyone remember the time the Patriots tried to trade John Hannah, one of the best guards ever, in a package for a rookie Elway...and got laughed at?

Remember when that great Line helped the Cowboys? Yeah, me too...in the diggity damn 90's. The Boys, Raiders, Browns, Titans, etc. have all had dominant lines in recent history. Crazy had teams that aren't pumping cash into the OL like Seattle and Denver could overcome it.

DJ Fluker was a bust at tackle. The Ravens just plugged his overgrown ass into the guard position! Why would you ever pay a premium for a non-premium position? Half the league went "this league requires WRs at a high level," and took a bunch of WR's this draft...it's 2020 baby.

And we goin' act like it.

The same people screaming "Trust Elway," seem to ignore that when "Trust Elway," doesn't mean 'do what I want'.

We throwing the damn ball this year. **** run blocking guards, we're in the business of winning and playing 'well that used to work' style of ball.

"The era of three yards and a cloud of dust is over," - Elway.

Risner is better for a NFL team because he won't be overly costly at a position that does not pay dividends for investment. Sure, you might have to pay one some cash, but when Nelson keeps being "the best guard in the NFL' I'm going to laugh when he gets paid like a tackle and sinks his team. Meanwhile Risner will be on the similar level and not cost a first round pick - crazy how guards don't matter when the QB ain't there, right, Indy?- but you can still find WR's making huge plays that impact games. Fitzgerald, Hopkins, Andre Johnson, DT, all made impacts while having a bum ass throwing them the ball.

We weren't in a realistic position to keep him and he wanted to be a starter. It is what it is.

He showed flashes of being a good player. Come on man, not everything has to be an extreme. I'm tired and hurting today, bro. Prop me up. I need to heal.

I didn’t take it to an extreme, taking it to extreme would be saying he just plain sucked ... but he didn’t suck in TB.

What I said was true, he sucked in Denver, he was as bad or worse than Shane Ray.

I keep waiting for the NFL to devalue OL ... any day now, I guess.

    We love tackles daddy-o.

So much that we can just plug busted tackles into guards. Baltimore just switched from paying guards to 'loling' as they trot out a fifth rounder and Fluker to the guard spots.

    Come on man.

Dude, Fluker is my ideal G, a T that’s been moved inside ... I don’t find that funny, I find that boner inducing.

Btw, Fluker has 36 1/2” arm length ... 87” wing span ... science.
