    Default Atlanta Hawks

Founded in 1946 as the Buffalo Bison in Buffalo, New York. They were part of the National Basketball League (NBL). They were organized by the Erie County American Legion. Their first game was on November 8, 1946 where they beat the Syracuse Nationals 50-39. After less than 40 days in Buffalo they moved to Moline, Illinois and changed their name to the Tri-Cities Blackhawks. In 1949 the NBA was created with a merge between the NBL and the Basketball Association of America (BAA). Two years later the team moved to Milwaukee and became the Hawks (for good). In 1955 they moved to St Louis, where they had their most success. They were in the Finals in 1957, 1958, 1960, and 1961. Their only championship is from 1958. In 1968 they finally moved their last time to Atlanta, where they are now.

The Hawks are pretty unmemorable to me other than their logo looking like PacMan. Click image for larger version.

Nique is probably my favorite dunker of all time even though I’ve never been a Hawks fan other than hoping they’d beat the Celtics.

*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

They had some all-time bad jerseys in the late 90s.

Those teams were pretty good though. Lenny Wilkins was still coaching them. They had Steve Smith, Dikembe Mutumbo, Mookie Blaylock, Rick Berry. They made a couple of minor playoff runs.
