Any chance Poet shows up after the first pick on Thursday? Like the original bet? Or is he gone forever?
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
He gone.

If Poet is King, he will show.
So this is what I come back to? Sigh. Okay.
Let us correct the record:
There were some hot takes on here regarding Ruggs and how he wasn't a worthy candidate for a number one pick. Even though you couldn't find any reputable mock draft with him sliding to the second. So when I simply argued that he was a first rounder, it somehow turned into another version of the game I like to call "let's build a strawman." I would have been fine with Ruggs as a pick if that's how Denver viewed him, or in situations like we traded back and he slide to us, but this post at the very least implies that I was all in on Ruggs being a Bronco.
Moreover, I had Ruggs behind Lamb and Jeudy. You'd think I'd be remembered for the wonderful take of "you have to give the young QB weapons," and "CB's are really important, but with Fangio's scheme and our free agent strategy, we don't have to take one in the first round." And given that Denver just took one this season when Fangio is on the hot seat and might not be here, meaning that Denver isn't beholden to him and his scheme, that would be validated. Imagine scoffing at someone about cornerbacks (like a certain poster in here did) when they didn't even understand the HC's system.
It made me sad to read that.
