Tebow wasn't JFE's pick, but he was going nowhere with Kyle Orton so Elway had nothing to lose. You could tell by Elway's reactions during the game he was as shocked as anyone that Tebow was winning (TT was 7-4 in his 11 starts during 2011, 8-6 overall). But that didn't stop Elway from pursuing Manning with a passion.

Lynch, OTOH, *was* Manning's pick and he even traded up to get him. But, then, Elway had better options than Kyle Orton in 2016-17 so he was able to keep Lynch out of the lineup except as a test (1-3 as a starter).

I recall Kiper gushing over Jarvis Moss, and touting him as a cure for our pass rush woes. Man, was he mistaken.

Of all the first round busts the Broncos have made, Tebow was not one of them. Without 2011 and the playoff win, Manning wouldn't have been convinced.

PFM is too smart to think Tebow had anything to do with that PO team, neighbor please!

Tebow is the biggest 1st round shit stain of them all.

And giving a shit is the only reason he’s better than PL? Barf.

And PL never got to see the field, not even “to see what we have in PL”, JFE deserves some blame for both happening because Tebow should’ve never seen the field either.

Immediately after the Lions game, when Tebow proved he’s not an NFL QB, KO should’ve been back in the starting lineup and Tebowmania should’ve never seen the light of day.

We get it, you have an emotional irrational hatred of Tim Tebow. You're not alone. But the dude hasn't been a Bronco in nine years and we've seen worse busts than Tebow come through here since. Let it go, man. It'll help your blood pressure.

I get it, you don’t like being wrong, let it go.

I didn’t bring him up, you did, I made an irrefutable argument that Kiper was mostly right. Tebow and his fans are the ones that were horribly wrong about Tebow.

As for PL being a bigger bust, at least he had 1st round talent, in a thread bashing Kiper it’s ironic that he’s more nuanced in his assessment of how bad the Tebow pick was.

Whoever made that video owes Kiper an apology.

For the record, here's what Kiper said about Paxton Lynch:

    Must have been post-draft.

The irony is that I didn't want Tebow. I felt he was overrated and thought McDiapers was a moron for selecting him with a first-rounder. OTOH, I thought trading up to take Lynch was an excellent move because I watched him in college and thought he had great skills running a fast break offense at Memphis. FWIW, I was the guy who thought Errict Rhett was going to be a better pro than the oft-injured Emmitt Smith coming out of Florida.

I didn't post the video to pump up Tebow. I did it to crack on Kiper. FWIW, the video also crapped on Mel about David Carr. I believe Carr was horribly mismanaged in Houston and it ruined him. Try living up to being #1 overall when you aren't given an offensive line to work with. Hard to blame a draft analyst over guys who either had their careers cut short by injuries (Ki-Jana Carter, for one) or treated like a pinata behind terrible o-lines.

It's been years since I've seen a Ki-Jana Carter reference. What a day.

Seriously? The entire running game was built on Tebow's ability to run over people. He had EVERYTHING to do with that playoff team, just not in the way you'd want a quarterback typically to be involved in an offense. Guy was the 2nd leading rusher on the team, and had 660 yards and 6 TDs. Say what you want about him as a QB, frankly he stunk it up outside of a few moments, but Tebow's ability to run the ball played a critical role in the 2011 run.

He wasn't a system fit once Manning agreed to sign(QBs have to throw the ball efficiently in NFL systems), and Elway was able to recoup a 4th for him.

Guy contributed to a playoff team and its win. He's not a bust. Jarvis Moss, Alphonso Smith, Darcel McBath, Richard Quinn, Tim Crowder, Terry Pierce are busts.

He was so good at Penn State. Even as a huge Rashan Salaam fan I couldn't knock Carter. Baaaad injury
