alex smith, jake plummer, trent green, baker mayfield under stefanski. . . i'm sure there are others. . . look at how much better nick foles has been with andy or reich, and how much better teddy was with sean payton. . . it won't be a surprise if wentz rebounds under reich, or if payton gets good play out of jameis. . . coaching matters in the NFL, a lot. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Other than that one fluke year of foles, you aren't winning a super bowl with any of those guys. And if you don't think the QB on your roster can win you a super bowl, what's the point?

If Lock is a guy that's going to require perfect coaching and everything around him being set up perfectly, I just don't see the point.

Smith had turned his career around under Harbaugh.

Trent Green was a system QB, but that's fair play.

Baker is weird because he had one bad year following a strong rookie season. That's to my point. To your point, his mechanics improved, and he made fewer bad choices

Foles got hot - he is a hot and cold QB his entire career so I disagree on that

Teddy is Teddy and a game manager is a game manager

Yeah Allen also has the advantage of 14 more games of experience and a coaching staff and fan base that believes in him.
