I mean...what else is a teammate supposed to say??
Yes, heaven forbid there's any positive news about Drew Lock.
I'm pulling for the kid as much as anyone. I just don't put too much weight in the overly positive rhetoric that we hear from teammates or coaches during the off-season. If Sutton were a guru QB coach or talent evaluator...maybe. But at the moment, he's just someone out there to make Lock look good.
It's a bit funny to me, because he (Sutton) is basically criticizing Lock for last year, but acknowledging that he's working really hard to correct his mistakes. Be it footwork, knowing the playbook, understanding the defense he's facing, or whatever. He's working on improving every aspect of his game (of which he's only had 18).
I just find the criticism of Lock to be curious. I know he wasn't a 1st round pick, but he clearly has a huge upside - if he can rein in his mistakes.
Reminds me of college. Lock is a hot cold type of a QB. When he is hot he can throw 400 yds and 4 tds and looks unstoppable.
I would have liked to see a real coordinator work with him in the NFL.
I'm really glad you posted this because I took a lot of positives out it. It's not just that he said nice things, it's what he said that Drew has improved on. It's in our best interest that Drew make that leap this year for the future of this team. I've always heard the game has to slow down for thing to click. I hope it has for him and that he stops trying to force things that turn into interceptions.
Getting Stoked
This is different they can always stick to cleshay type talk but they all go above and beyond to pick at drews flaws from last year and how he handled it and also how much he’s been working and how they believe in him. This is different and not the same! Lock has the respect and belief from his teammates
