Drew was really bad yesterday. I’m hoping that it’s because he was pressing against his hometown team, and against the best quarterback in football. Granted, I think this is some of what the offense is asking him to do, read deep to short on his progressions — I think — but he spent too long reading the deep play, trying to make a huge play, and missed so many underneath, keep-the-drive-alive routes.

I don’t know if the scheme hasn’t allowed for it, or the Chiefs were bracketing him or he’s just not on the same page with Lock, but four targets for Jeudy is not enough. Shurmur has to find more ways to get him involved. One target was deep, and Lock was 2-3 on outside passes to him short. That’s just not enough. I don’t know where the problem is, but that needs to be fixed if this offense is going to get better.

The offense went to shit when Lindsey got hurt. This team just runs better when he’s in. Hopefully, the concussion doesn’t linger. Still not playing him on third down is egregious.

Tim Patrick and Alex O each had a good game. They are both steady players where you can expect a consistent performance, but they aren’t superstars, they aren’t the player you run your offense through, and the Broncos need to find out who’s going to be that player. We know Sutton can be that guy, but for the time being without him, Jeudy, Lindsey, Fant, one of these three guys probably has to step up and be that guy and Lock needs to get on the same page with them and Shurmur.

The point output can’t resemble the Siemian Broncos, and it is.

I'm not going to read into that game as much as I normally would. Drew looked like straight trash that game... there's no denying that. I also felt that most of the team also looked like shit too. Combination of bad weather and poor preparation made yesterday`s game very hard to watch.

Let's just focus on the Chargers and see what Lock v Herbert has to offer.

agreed completely on the first paragraph. . . i don't know that they were bracketing jeudy-- one of the announcers said spagnulo told him before the game that they weren't going to let fant and patrick beat them. . . fant clearly wasn't full speed, and jeudy and hamler just don't seem to be on the same page with lock yet. . . you can't replace the reps that have been lost to various injuries-- it's going to take some time, and forcing it won't help. . . losing sutton was a devastating gut punch to this offense. . . if drew plays the same way for the next month with no improvement, i will start to worry-- for now, i'm just going to be patient with the process. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Yeah, sadly it’s getting closer to the time that we need to be a little harder on the QB evals...

Losing sutton was worse than losing von
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Easily. Von was a bigger loss from a team leader/morale/face of the franchise perspective, but Sutton has been a bigger loss on the field

In some ways it would be best for it to be a complete disaster and failure so that there is maximum learning.

In other ways, it would be nice to get back to that 4-1 winning action. Is Scangarello still out there?

    I kid.

I'm going to start my stopwatch on game 1 next season. It's been too weird a year for me to emphasize this year's results. New OC, young QB, young offensive players, Melvin Gorgon, injuries, etc.

I hope the Broncos win out and face the Queefs in the playoffs and get retribution--Mahomes could get injured after all--but it felt like the target was 2021 all along for me anyways.

    Oh and f u MG3.
Shouldn't kid about the Scangarello, they shouldn't have gotten rid of him. He was working well with Drew.

We better wait until after the season to examine Lock's entire body of work, not just explode after he has a bad game. Or a couple bad games. That stuff is gonna happen with a young QB.

But, if he looks like this the entire season, and there's no improvement; then we're basically in Trevor Siemian territory. Trevor had a few nice games to start with that got people enthusiastic, but once defenses started taking him seriously. . . . . .

But, we're not there yet. I'm more worried about Pat Shurmur. He's da suck.

Scangarello was the scape-goat last year when neither John Elway nor Vic Fangio could be fired after a 3rd straight losing season and 4th straight non-playoff appearance. But, clearly he worked better with Lock than Shurmur.

Shurmur looks like he's auditioning for another head coaching job in the NFL "take a look at my Star-Wars Big-Play Offense That-Woulda-Worked-If-Only-We-Had-Peyton-Manning!"

"Dear Pat. Sorry to break it to you, but you are not getting another head coaching job in the NFL. That ship has sailed. Try running the ball more and throw some shorter passes to take some of the pressure off your young QB." Sincerely, Reality.

Patrick has been easily our best receiver this year and he got fewer snaps yesterday than Jerry did. I just feel like once again we've got coordinators who are out of touch with what's really going on in the game. Tim had two consecutive 100-yard games and then we decided to to give him just over 60% of the snaps. It doesn't make sense to me.
