Depends on how far up their ass their heads are. If the new GM has any wits about him, he'll offload that contract, take the picks and players he'd get from trading Watson, and be honest about the fact that they're in a massive rebuild and are likely years away from being a contender.

the guy is the leader of your team on the field-- even if you can force him to play for you, do you really want to be paying him $30 million if you know he isn't bought in to your organization? that's probably the number one reason that when big stars ask for a trade, they typically end up getting one. . . an initial stare-down, and maybe some protracted posturing, is SOP-- but most teams don't want to go forward long-term with one of their top guys being a malcontent. . . people always drool about the prospect of the team "sticking it to" the rebellious athlete, but they're ultimately employees, not team property. . . is it worth wasting a season losing 15-16 games with AJ mccarron just to prove a point?
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Agreed...but the basic point was to get some folks to slow down and use actual reason in their arguments. Of course you would bet on Lock over Dalton going forward. But the horse needs to stay ahead of the cart. Lock has the P word. That's a dangerous word. Especially for a QB. There is a lot to like. But some need reeled in a bit.
