But, as far as his toughness and hanging in there, the guy is a champ and it's a complete BS media-narrative that Cutler wasn't a tough QB. Screw that. I know what I saw. Cutler was a warrior, and IDGAF what anyone has to say. I know what I saw.

There's nothing not to be excited about. He's the best young QB we've had here since Elway, and no I didn't forget about Cutler.

And the dude spread the ball around and got players INVOLVED.

Clock got something out of Hamilton, even the Great Joe Flacco couldn’t do that.

The biggest thing I worry about with Lock is the sophomore slump. There’s a new offense to learn. There’ll probably be a very abbreviated offseason if there even is one. He can’t work with his receivers. He’ll have a new Center to take snaps from. There’s any number of things that can set him back. I know we as a fan base have zero patience for QB development and if he isn’t immediately a stud or struggles out of the gate, the fan base could turn on him and worse, the FO might do something stupid like bring in a dude like Cam or Dalton to again try to “win now” which will hinder his progress even more. I fear if he has a Mayfield-esque season that we won’t have the smarts not to give him the hook.

I think a major reason for the sophomore slump is that so many other teams get to study the rookie in the offseason. It's hard to prepare for someone when you haven't seen how they play at the NFL level. When the tape is out there, a lot of players struggle.

"And just so you know, Jay is really great guy! As you can tell from our, I mean my, I mean his and her reality TV show, where he displays his charming personality for all to see! Like the time he got bored and decided to go to her business and sit there all day, harassing her employees and yelling at them.

    Totally awesome guy!"

You could be right. I hope you're wrong, but if Lock struggles, I could see Elway looking for the next veteran QB to come in and "win now!"

More likely though is that another losing season and Fangio will be on the hot seat.

He's a gunslinger with a big arm...there will be some bad interceptions that come via overconfidence. A stout defense and a short memory will overcome them.
