    Default PC build

I'm working on building a pc. I want to keep the price around $1,000. I want something that is 4k capable, but I won't be doing 4k right now because 4k monitors are still hella expensive.

Super hard to read, but looks like a 2600 build? Have they come down in price? 1600s have been so super cheap, I'd have a tough time not going 1600. But 2600 is understandable too.

when you finish, compare it to these two to see if you have done a good job (imo)

Powerspec is the Microcenter store brand and they are hard to beat from a performance per dollar standpoint.

Mine is pretty comparable to the $1200 one, difference is, I have a 2060 instead of a 2070 and I have a high end gaming monitor included in my price point.

Can it be a Dell? You can get a lot for $1000 from these guys. They ship from Texas.

Just tell them the specs you want and they'll give you options.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

I'd take Frey's build over that garbage.

The best 'deal' they have is this one

    https://discountelectronics.com/dell...650-gaming-pc/

and it's a sad fraction of the power of Frey's rig & w/o a monitor for only $200 less. Basically throwing away money.

Edit: assuming we are looking into gaming rigs

Frey it feels like you could shave some $$ by going w/ a 1600 and a different mobo. Microcenter.com is worth a look. Maybe there's a hidden gem in 'hoofster's link but nothing jumped out at me.

Right now I'm sitting at 1145. I'm slightly over budget, but I think I can get my wife onboard, especially since this crisis has left me with a lot of overtime at work as we move to work from home.

I can get a lot more by buying the individual parts and putting it together myself which is my plan. I don't let other people build my computers, I do that myself.

Am I reading that right as only 8gb of RAM? That seems a little light. Guess it depends on your use.

Yea it is, and I've bumped it up to 16gb. I originally was skimping in some areas like ram knowing I could add another stick in a few months.
