Hopefully this is just ammo to trade for the Great Christian Kamara.
I’m not sold on Gordon’s character and hard work.

Gordon has always been good in the redzone. Lets hope he becomes a force.

Great outlet out of the backfield for a young QB...also brings a veteran presence. Lock, Sutton, Fant, Lindsay, etc. all have 2 years or less experience. Need a veteran guy to be a vocal presence until the kids mature a little.
Risk/reward signings, but the reward is pretty high, IMO. All three have Pro Bowl upside as noted.
I think there are underlying things that play into those down seasons more than aging or diminishing skill. The entire Jacksonville team quit last year and Bouye got lost in it all. No one that defense really had a great season, but teams would jump at the chance to land many of them. Casey just didn't seem to fit all that well in Pees system and maybe even less in what Vrabel is looking to do, but on paper would be great under Fangio. And Gordon's down year is really just the result of his holdout. I don't think he's a guy you give the ball to 250 times a year...especially behind the line he had in SD, but neither is Lindsay. The two of them as a combo should be really good.
Melvin's had one year (1) where he ran for more than 4 ypc. He's not a Get His Own Yards kind of guy, he's an outlet guy who makes all his money off getting a big play or a score. The rest of the time he's not especially relevant.
Big plays, especially scoring plays, matter a ton. As a tandem back I think they overpaid (although he got a higher offer elsewhere, it's reported) but I get the desire for an outlet to help the young QB. It's not like Denver's other RBs can't catch the ball though. Still seems odd.

My novels Mason's Order and its sequel Mason's Pledge are now available at Amazon in both paperback and kindle versions.
Shurmur likes using his backs in the passing game. I think he learned a lot about running a RBBC in his year where Chip Kelly decided to try to ruin the Eagle's organization and they ended up with Murray, Sproles, and Ryan Matthews.
2015
Murray 55 targets 44 rec 322 yards
Matthrews 28 target 20 rec 146 yards
Sproles 83 targets 55 receptions 388 yards
2017
L. Murray 17 target 15 rec 103 yards
McKinnon 68 target 51 rec 421 yards
2018
Barkley 121 targets 91 receptions 721 yards
Gallman 22 targets 14 receptions 89 yards
2019
Barkley 73 target 52 receptions 438 yards
Gallman 15 targets 11 receptions 102 yards
idk I'm really excited about wht Elway has been doing this year these are known commodities coming to Denver injecting some life into this team

Hope the draft is a hit this year, still lots of holes.
Gordon really doesnt make or break us, just another high dollar body, imo.
