rest - https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/c...-energy-arena/The growing concerns surrounding the coronavirus have finally caused the first cancellation of an NBA game. Due to illnesses involving multiple players, the league decided to postpone Wednesday night's matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz.
A few minutes prior to tip-off, a Thunder medical staffer met with officials and after a brief consultation, both teams made their way back to their locker rooms. The referees then got on the headset with the league, and after a brief discussion, they too left the court.
According to the Thunder broadcast, the game was initially delayed due to illnesses involving multiple players, including Jazz center Rudy Gobert. The teams and officials wanted the green light from the league before going on with the game. That, obviously, never came. After about a 30-minute delay, the Thunder PA announcer told fans that the game was postponed.
