Default The All Time Greatest Quarterbacks Thread

These are Hawg’s rules. I’m just living with them.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Send me a PM by March 1, 2020 with the title 'top QBs' with your top 3 all time QBs. If you give me more than three names I'm taking the first three. No ranking, just three names you think for sure belong on a top 5 list. I'll compile the results and we can tally the top 5 vote-getters. Rinse and repeat until we get to Paxton Lynch.

If there's any 'metric' for this list, it's this--who do you want to see higher up on the list? What is your preference? Some QBs have more rings, but have raise-all-boats type HOF coaches. Or generous owners, or other circumstances. But everyone loves a winner. So there's no real rule or established criteria, just who do you think deserves to be called the all-time great QBs--whatever that means to you?

Here's a randomized list of some QBs* who are pretty good to get the juices flowing for subsequent discussion in case there's someone you forgot.

    Terry Bradshaw+
    Norm Van Brocklin+
    Bobby Layne+
    Drew Bledsoe
    Jim Kelly+
    Len Dawson+
    Andrew Luck
    Russell Wilson
    Roger Staubach+
    Johnny Unitas+
    Joe Namath+
    Vinny Testaverde
    John Elway+
    Matt Hasselbeck
    Philip Rivers
    Phil Simms
    Drew Brees
    Dan Fouts+
    Matt Ryan
    Dave Krieg
    Tony Romo
    Y.A. Tittle+
    Brett Favre+
    Warren Moon+
    George Blanda+
    Cam Newton
    Dan Marino+
    Bart Starr+
    Eli Manning
    Tom Brady
    Alex Smith
    Fran Tarkenton+
    Boomer Esiason
    Joe Montana+
    Donovan McNabb
    Steve Young+
    Sonny Jurgensen+
    Michael Vick
    Sammy Baugh+
    Matthew Stafford
    Kurt Warner+
    Otto Graham+
    Peyton Manning
    Ben Roethlisberger
    Aaron Rodgers
    Troy Aikman+

*I took the list of all-time passing yardage up to about 100 or so and then dropped some of the names that no one would ever think about putting in top 10 (Zorn, Cutler, Kosar)

Cool thanks guys. If you rebels want to participate, send me a PM like in the instructions. I'm not going to go through the thread plus I'd prefer anonymity. Plus it's thread clutter...

I'll use those, North and Jaded, but would appreciate any add'nl ones to be via PM.

Do we have to give you 3?

I think there are only 2 that are in the discussion for GOAT.

Then give me 2 and a bunch of blank lines until the 3d if it makes you feel good.

Hey I got like 7 people doing this. Hardly enough for a good outcome. Pretty much everyone on this board has a great opinion, and we know it will likely skew heavily toward Elway and Manning...other than that--pm me 3 names.

I don't think you understand how numbers and lists work.
