Default WR With First Two Picks....

Of course its tough to know what will happen in FAgency.

If the Broncos stay with their picks taking BPA in each situation, I just thought of the prospect of Denver using its first two picks on WRs.

Initially, the knee jerk reaction is to vomit when you hear that.

However, lets remember that Denver has 7 selection in the top four rounds.

    SEVEN.

While there are needs in other areas, Im not adverse to the Broncos taking BPA in each situation.

If we picked up Lamb or Jeudy at 15, and then Reagor, Laviska or some other top Wr are there, I dont see a problem with us taking them.

The reason is Im sick at the thought that KC might take a Reagor, or Laviska or Ruggs at their pick. Having both Hill, Kelce and Ruggs to contend with while Mahomes is tossing the rock to them just scares me. That being said, I think they take the best RB at 32.

I have to say Im pretty giddy at the thought of getting a Lamb or Jeudy at 15....and another top WR to boot in round 2.

Sutton, Lamb, Reagor(or the like), Fant......with Lock tossing the rock......I gotta say I love it.

Oline is going to be there with the rest of the picks as will corner.

I see us very active in FAgency.
    IN PATON I TRUST.

There's some concerns all over the roster, and I did vomit like you said, but then I thought about it and decided there's worse ideas, especially if both had Sutton type impact. Of course one would be a field-stretcher but still, Lock and 3 WR personnel in a couple years with Fant and a pass-catching Lindsay and Janovich...if Lock is the real deal and the OL isn't a huge pit of suck...

But my gut is we need Andrew Thomas and nothing else will do.

Cant be scared of what other teams will do, you need to build a team that not only will improve the team but find ways to defend other teams. Getting in shootouts with KC the next few years is how you end up with Trent Green styled offenses without any defense. KC learned this year that it takes some defense to win championships.

I all about trying to get a WR in the first 95 picks this draft because the class is pretty deep, but 2 and especially using just our first 2 picks on WR's is not smart at all with Center, Guard, Tackle, CB, DL, LB all bigger needs then 2 separate Wr's......
    Denver's 2024 George Paton Draft/FA plan

    Draft
    RD1- TE Brock Bowers, GA
    RD3- QB Spencer Rattler, SC
    RD4- CB Josh Newton, TCU
    RD5- S Reggie Pearson, OK
RD5- C Michael Jurgens, Wake Forest
RD6- K Jonah Dalmas, Boise St

Yeah, maybe you need some great WRs, but there are always Deebos.

If BPA is available and we already got 1 in round 1 I do jot see back to back picks being WRs

Recent winners play D, block well and have too many solid weapons for other defenses to cover. Very few early skill picks and very few expensive skill players make up these teams. I'd have trouble accepting the strategy mentioned above.

This is how they’ve managed to NOT fix clear/obvious (like OL and covering TE’s) issues yea after year, waiting til later rounds to fix your biggest issues is grounds for being fired.

How bout you go WR in the first two rounds next year?

If KC goes offense (they probably should go defense) imo it’ll be RB, unless they dump Watkins to resign their FA’s.

I would like a WR by round 3 but I see needs at CB, OL, DL and ILB that are going to vie for attention unless we fill them in free agency. Quality CB, OT and DT will go fast. OG, OC, ILB and WR can wait for later rounds, not because they aren't important but because their skill sets normally fall through to the middle rounds. I do think we need a receiver who can take double coverage off of Sutton. I think Hamilton is a bust and Phillips is just a guy. Stick a Lamb or a Jeudy on the other side and now secondaries can't cheat. So if one is available at #15, this can be a great choice but I'm leaning Brown or Kinlaw at DL first, a top-3 corner next and then WR but a lot depends on what spills down to us.

Should we dangle a third or fourth to move up in the first round if we're targeting someone particular?

They better move up if they want a T.

Good thing they beat the Oakland ... er, I mean Las Vegas Raiders.

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

    ^this.

Depending on how FA goes I'm okay with taking a WR with one of our 1st three picks, even at 15 if a guy we love fall, BUT, OL plz. Wrs can be had later, OL not so much.

There is going to be a run on OT’s I expect us to do a hard look at Austin Jackson or Josh Jones at 15 maybe Wirfs if we’re lucky or even a slight trade back to get a extra 2nd rd pick cause we need a center to.

There are some sneaky guys around the 3rd range for OT in Driscoll and Peart that I like as well.

Go with your board. If your #3 WR is rated higher than your #5 OL...then draft the WR. When you focus on drafting for need and take the best of what's left...you end up with guys like Bolles.
