1st pick in round 1 (via a trade down) Austin Jackson, OT, USC.
2nd pick in round 1 (via another trade but back to the end of the 1st round) Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado

In a move to pump the brakes on two WRs.......let me give some perspective when drafting WRs.

The general consensus is that this is the best WR class ever........or........the best WR class since 2015, where 6 WRs went in the first round.

Demaryius, we scored.....no doubt. Julio Jones...oh my.

But let me list the 6 WRs that were drafted in the 2015 draft class:

    Amari Cooper Pick 4 Raiders

    Kevin White Pick 7 Chicago

    Devante Parker Pick 14 Miami

    Nelson Agholor Pick 20 Philly

    Breshad Perriman Pick 26 Ravens

    Phillip Dorsett Pick 29 Indy
    IN PATON I TRUST.

WR can be a hard position to scout. Lots to hope for that college doesnt show you. For example, does a WR know how to hide his intentions when running routes vs pro CBs who actually know what they are looking at? How many relied on superior athleticism in college, but didn't study or work on their craft? The talent gap shrinks in the NFL and the work and mind matter. Another reason I prefer other positions in round 1.

Just depends on what positions are available. If there are no OL, DL or CB worthy of #15...WR has to be the choice if one of the top 3 are available.

Completely agree...but at 15, this draft will assuredly leave us a prime choice at 1 of those spots.

Will it? It's very plausible that Becton, Thomas, Wllis, Okudah, Brown and Kinlaw are all gone by 15. After them, no one else at their positions is really worth a top 20 selection. Although I'd probably accept an argument for Kristian Fulton.

The QBs basically always get taken earlier than 15 and there is enough potential there that I believe folks will go get theirs. Toss in a couple WRs, the OSU DE, the Clemson LB and a few others I'm forgetting and I believe we'll have options.

Two more months of speculation...and a reassessment after free agency

Kinlaw projections are all over the map. I've seen him at 8, 22 and everywhere in between. I'll be very interested to see where he ends up.

There should be someone we like at 15 or someone another team likes. I live the draft because some of these teams are going to overthink a guy like Andrew Thomas. Oooh Becton is athletic and so are wills and wirfs and the next thing you know the best player at the position could slide. This is the time of the year when personnel people forget the tape and intangibles and get lost in freak measurables.

yep. . . the more i think about, the more likely it seems that one of the top OLs should fall out of the top ten. . . if we assume that three QBs will go high, that leaves seven spots for four OLs, young, okudah, simmons, brown, and jeudy. . . if we don't end up with someone like thomas, becton or kinlaw, we should have options to trade back with somebody who wants the next QB, or one of the top WRs or edge guys. . .

our wild card move could be to draft a guy like chaisson ourselves, as a long term partner for chubb. . . then trade von, or let him walk. . . that would be the aggressive rebuild move-- i'm not a fan, and can't see JFE actually doing that. . . but the point is, we should have some decent options at fifteen. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I'm not calling it, but I won't be shocked if 5 QBs go before us at 15. Eason is the wild card.

Someone on NFLN said that Eason has been linked to TB.
