how many rings would drew have if he'd had the other teams' signals and gameplans, and billy boy coordinating his defenses?

- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
Ingram has done well in Baltimore. Cooks was good his first two years out of Nola before falling off last year. Reggie Bush had his 3 best rushing seasons in Miami and Detroit. Graham's production did drop off a bit in Seattle but he was still decent.
Which players fell off a cliff after leaving Brees?
The real root question here is how many receivers and backs has Brees had that have been All Pro level? Colston? Moore? Horn? Henderson? Not exactly a laundry list of all time greats. Colston was a 7th round draft pick out of Hofstra (and originally from my hometown) and he ended up as the Saints all time receiving leader.
When you surround a great QB with mostly also-rans...the odds of them being great when they leave aren't exactly in their favor.
you missed my point, which is that winning rings is hard when you don't cheat. . . people are talking about wilson and rogers? they have the same number of rings that drew does-- and rogers has just as many playoff chokes, yet people still call him an all-time great. . . and deservedly so. . . you also mentioned a defensive TD helping brees out. . . well, shit. . . rogers got one of those from BJ raji during his lone super bowl run. . . oh, and ben rapenstein got a defensive TD from james harrison during his second super bowl. . . after being basically gifted his first ring by the refs. . .
also, peyton manning got a defensive TD in his second super bowl-- and a few other big plays from the D, as well. . . does this mean he's also an overrated stat compiler? i guess terry bradshaw is the real G.O.A.T. . . there's a guy who won a bunch of rings, and didn't compile a bunch of useless stats. . .

The fact that you don't think Wilson could have every bit the success there makes it hard to take your argument here very seriously. Brees has the best WR in football and couldn't win a home wild card game. Wilson was playing with some rookie WRs and Marshawn Lynch's corpse and dragged that team to the divisional round and damn near stole that game. Wilson is one of the two best QBs in football right now. Not sure Brees has ever been able to say that.
