    Default Chj

Will he return? Does Elway even want him back?

    Do YOU want him back?

Since the offense is going to be the priority in FA and thd Draft should Den just try to bring him and their FA stalworths like him and Wolfe back?

Id love it if CHJ retires a life long Bronco, or am i living in the past there. What say you?

Depends on what he wants in compensation. I still think the team needs him but he is getting up there in age but we have also seen how much the defense misses a guy like Talib.

    Not necessarily.

Just out of curiosity, who do you replace him with.

He turned down 3 years $36 million -- but that was before the Marcus Peters deal.

    Peters signed for 3 years $42 million -- he's 27 y/o and CHJ is 30.

I think CHJ is going to ask for the Peters deal and some DB desperate team will be willing to pay it. I think Elway will say 3 @ $36m was our best offer and both sides move on.

I'm kind of neutral -- I think he is still an impact player, but I'm not sure wrapping up big money in another DB over 30 (Kareem Jackson is 31) is the right thing to do when we have to pay Simmons.

Some would say Callahan... I doubt well ever see him and Juan James contribute.

Agreed. Big signing, big flop. Both of them.

Were about to pay Simmons 15 mil per year or more, with big contracts for Calahan and Jackson still in play as well. We offered Chris a very good contract for his age and declining skills in October. Unless his Market crashes, he will move on. The Eagles are already being rumored from the Senior Bowl to be planning a massive push for him.....only way he possibly comes back is if the only teams offering to pay him the most money are scrub teams......

I've read we are looking real hard at the cowboys cb. Also heard AJ bouye may be cut and someone else we.will pursue.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I want him back. We have the cap but elway can keep offer on table. We are a CB needy team. If Harris leaves we basically have empty shelf at CB.

denver badly needs to sign a quality starting corner in free agency. . . you can make an argument for and against that being chris, but i don't think you can make a compelling argument that they can get by without signing someone. . . bausby and yiadom as your top corners ain't getting it done-- zone scheme or not, great pass rush or not. . . IMO, chris will be the best CB available, but he's also older than the other options. . . that makes the financial part tricky. . . if i'm the broncos, i'm going hard right now trying to re-sign him to a two year deal-- i'd be willing to pay top corner money to get it done, but not for any longer term than that. . . if (and it sounds like this is already the case) he thinks he can do better, then let him hit FA where the market can dictate his price. . . if that's the route they go, they better be prepared to make a really strong offer for somebody like byron jones or kendall fuller in case CHJ does walk. . . they don't wanna get forced into looking for an immediate starter in this draft-- or relying solely on scrubs, and thinking they can just scheme it up and consistently get away with it. . .

IMO, offensive tackle, starting CB and defensive line are their pretty clear top priorities heading into the FA period. . . yes, there are obviously secondary needs at OG, #2/3 WR, and ILB, and a need for better depth more or less across the board. . . those aren't as absolutely critical as OT and #1 corner, though. . . to me, those two are trouble spots that could legitimately derail next season if they aren't addressed. . . it would probably be ideal if we could get harris (and wolfe at the right price) locked up before FA starts, but that typically isn't how elway operates. . . this ride could get more than a little bumpy. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

It's also worth noting that OT and CB are probably the biggest positions of need around the league -- so you can't **** around with either spot -- talent dries up fast. Gotta sign a CB and emphasize both early in the draft.

I feel like Fangio has such a specific defensive line archetype, that it's more plausible to fill via free agency.
