And he shouldn't be. I just don't think you should go in if you weren't an elite, top level player at your position for multiple years. Especially in the current era where defenses are barely allowed to hit you and medical/nutritional/training advances are lengthening careers. Playing and staying healthy for over a decade and accumulating a lot of stats in the process is notable, but I don't find it Hall of Fame worthy.

I get it, but there are certain stat accumulation thresholds that just can't be ignored. 3rd on the all time rushing list is in that group. Just like Eli's rank of 7th on both passing yards and TDs.

The interesting one is Matt Ryan. He is 10th in yards and 11th in TDs and he's only been playing 12 or 13 years.

QBs of this era are going to have to be evaluated differently when they come up for election. This whole era is completely rewriting all the passing records.

If I were voting HoF QBs from this era, I'd go P Manning, Brady, Big Ben, Brees, Rodgers. Guys like Eli, Rivers, Ryan would be borderline, but I think I'd leave them out.

I think Rivers gets in, although he never even played in a SB.

I think he was the best player of that borderline group, personally. But yeah, never even making a super bowl will hurt him. If he were in the NFC I think he'd have probably made it to a few. Having to play in the AFC with Manning, Brady, and Ben was a tough draw for him.

Im trying to think, is there a HOF Qb who never actually made it to a SB?

I believe Warren Moon is the only one in the Super Bowl era. But he had a lot of CFL success too.

I think he will get in the HOF, obvs.

But I agree with North....he doesn't look like a HOF to me and I don't think he belongs there.
