Default NFL to experiment with alternative to onside kick at Pro Bowl

The NFL will experiment with an alternative to the onside kick during Sunday's Pro Bowl, an indication that the league is still considering the option despite the fact that owners rejected it last year.

As in past years, there will be no kickoffs at all in the Pro Bowl. The twist this year is that teams will have two options after scoring.

The first is to give the ball back to the opposition, which would start its drive at its 25-yard line. The new, second option for the scoring team would serve as a substitute for an onside kick. It would allow it to run one additional play from its own 25-yard line.

It's an interesting alternative to the kickoff/onside kick.

It's the next step in the NFL eliminating kick offs.

15 yards seems way too easy vs. how rare onside kicks are successful. Back in NE's heyday with this rule they basically could have done this over and over and never given the ball to the other team. Or the 2013 Broncos for that matter.

KC could probably do the same right now.

It's a pretty big risk though. You miss and the other team is in scoring range. You are essentially giving away points.

Yes, a f**king stupid alternative. Why the 25? Should be from at least the 35 yard line like a normal/onside kick.
Too bad she doesn't cheer for the Patriots dressed like this

Because a 15 yard play is way easier than an onside kick, so they have to offset that by moving the ball back and making it more punitive not to convert.

    Little known fact:

The Patriots won the Super Bowl less that a year ago.

I know most will say they don't give a shit, but who are you pulling for in the SB? I know you'll watch some of it, as most will, even though they say they won't.

I want SF to smash KC with a clownhammer.

I've given this a lot of thought.

I selfishly don't want SF to get their 6th Super Bowl championship. I like that NE has 6 and I think PITT as well. So I am rooting against that.

I want KC to win because I like Andy Reid. I hear he is meticulously organized with his notes and records. I also want Mahomes to win a SB because he will demand 40 ml a year which will destroy KC's salary cap and will have a hard time signing key players.

However, I know as I watch the game I will have a hard time rooting for KC and against Jimmy G so I will likely be rooting for SF even though it's preferable if KC wins.

    Got it?
