    Default Favorite Lyric One-Liners

I generally don’t care about amazing lyrics as long as a song sounds good. But I love me a good one-liner. You know, the parts of the song that you love to sing more than the others either because of the content, maybe it hits hard, or just the way it’s sounds in the context of the song. Not whole song lyrics. Just one-liners or maybe a couple of lines or some such thing like that. I have a lot that I never remember but I’m gonna start paying more attention and documenting them.

“Excuse me while I kiss the sky.” - Jimi Hendrix

“The sun’s not yellow, it’s chicken.” - Bob Dylan

“I killed a man in Reno, just to watch him die.” - Johnny Cash

My children will live just to grow old" - Laura Marling

    "And fifteen minutes later
We had our first taste of whiskey

    On ancient Irish history
The men all started telling jokes
And the women they got frisky
At five o'clock in the evening
Every basturd there was piskey" - The Pogues (sorry this one's a whole verse but it's just too ******* perfect)

This thread is awesome. I'm very much a "listen to the words, man" guy so this is right up my alley.

    Good stuff so far.

I’m listening to Titus Andronicus’s The Monitor album right now because they’ve got the goods when it comes to this sort of thing.

“Cuz Tramps like us, baby we were born to die”

    That’s glorious

    As is

Did you exchange a walk on part in the wall
For a lead roll in a cage

Got off in the wrong direction
Found a hooker and lost my erection
so I had to lie in the letter to the boys back home.

Well the good guys and the bad guys
they never work past Noon 'round here
They sit side by side in the cantinas
Talk to Senoritas and drink warm beer.
