    I was 13.
Grade 7 at Forest Hills Elementary in Saint John, New Brunswick.
I was a fairly new Broncos fan at that point and didn't quite realize the significance.
Sure made the next couple of decades a fun ride though...;-)

I saw him play in Sept, 1994 at Mile High against the Raiders.
They had those old wacky uniforms with the crazy horse on the helmet.
One of my most favoritist, bestest, memories ever...

I was 10. Since I had "become" a Broncos fan in '78, I was excited to hear the news. Mostly because the sports news reports that I saw and read hyped it up so much. I don't recall knowing a ton about Elway in college since I was an east coast kid, but all the pundits at that time made it seem like a big deal, so I was as excited as a 10 year old fan could be. One of the things I remember most is that a lady that my mom worked with knew I was a Broncos fan and told me that she was friends with the Elway family. My dad kept telling her that she was a liar but a few years later, she produced a photo of John that he signed. Later on, when I was into baseball cards, I had it authenticated and it's legit. Still hangs on my office wall today.

I'm about the same age as Elway, and while I was always a Broncos' fan first, I really loved the Vikings too. Mainly because of Fran Tarkenton. When news broke about Elway being traded, my allegiance to the Broncos was fully solidified. There was no internet, no YouTube, so finding information or highlights on him were only available if you happened to be watching ESPN when they were showing highlights.

It was an amazing feeling knowing this great QB prospect was coming to Denver. He and Tarkenton played similarly, and I was super excited. Obviously, he didn't disappoint. I still think he's one of (if not THE) greatest QB's to ever play the game.
