Default Broncos hire Rich Hurtado as vice president of football administration

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos have hired Rich Hurtado as the team's vice president of football administration, President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway announced on Wednesday.

Hurtado has 15 years of experience negotiating contracts as a team executive or player agent. He spent the last 11 years as an agent/executive for Creative Artists Agency (formerly Five Star Athlete Management) after four seasons working in football administration with the Philadelphia Eagles.

With the Broncos, Hurtado will lead the club's negotiating and structuring of all player contracts. He also will be responsible for managing the Broncos' salary cap as well as ensuring the club's contract compliance with the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This is a great hire - i thought he was the most underrated DC in the league in SD - I love this hire more than i should love the hire of an OLB coach

indeed. . . good to see ya back, mr. mayor. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Denver still needs a DB’s coach, imo, putting Donatell in the booth.

I'm very excited for this offseason. There's no reason we shouldn't be much improved this year.

    February 7
Fifth day of waiver period; five days after 2019 League Year's Super Bowl

Broncos: This is the first day for the Broncos to exercise options for linebacker Todd Davis, offensive guard Ronald Leary, kicker Brandon McManus and linebacker Von Miller's 2020 contract years. $500,000 of Davis' $5 million 2020 base salary becomes fully guaranteed with the option being exercised. Picking up Leary's option triggers a $1.5 million 2020 base salary guarantee. His entire 2020 base salary is $8.15 million. $1 million of McManus' $3 million 2020 base salary is fully guaranteed only if the option is picked up. $6 million of Miller's $17.5 million 2020 base salary is fully guaranteed if the option is exercised. The deadline to exercise these options is the last day of the 2019 league year, which is March 18.

Shurmur: '[It was] very important to go to an organization that has winning in their DNA'

    Feb 06, 2020

Default 'That's how you move the ball': HC Vic Fangio, OC Pat Shurmur outline common goal for Broncos' offense

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Vic Fangio knows the reputation that follows defensive-minded coaches.

That they only want to run the ball. That they're conservative by nature. That they'd prefer to win games 3-0. Two to nothing, if possible.

But he made it clear Thursday that he doesn't fall in that category.

"Contrary to the stereotype that is always out there, [that a] defensive head coach wants to ground and pound and counts a pitch to the halfback as a pass, that is not me," Fangio said Thursday. "I like to be aggressive."

Pat Shurmur already interviewing for the Michigan St HC job, so anybody who thought this hire might bring continuity can forget that.

Signing a RB to a big extension is generally poor decision making, especially when that RB is 185lbs and has a bad wrist. This is no time to get sentimental, tender Lindsay accordingly and play your cards right.

    Or ... sell high.
