Gurley got 1 year at 6 mil because he is no longer a 25 carry guy and he was already paid 7.5 mil this season by LA. Plus...it was an opportunity to play in his home state. The Falcons had a lot of things going for them to get that deal.

The Shurmur offense needs a back with elite receiving skills (which Lindsay doesn't posess). So what were the options to fill that void, outside of Gordon? I mean, we could have traded for the always injured David Johnson and his 13 mil per year. Or brought in a washed up Davonta Freeman?

Relax guys, this isn't a Case Keenum type deal.

The options are the draft and it always will be the draft for those kind of positions, especially a pass catching back. If your staff cant find good RB's in the draft find new staff......Paying this kind of money to Washed up RB's is a waste.....

Broncos sign RB Melvin Gordon (2 years, $16 million; $13.5 million guaranteed): B Grade

Interesting thoughts some of what was talked about.....but he seems to rate the siging favorably. I do not share this setiment at all, but I will have no problem eating crow or saying I was right at the end of the year, just like with flacco.....

I don't think anyone is going to go in with the expectations of him putting up McCaffrey numbers. If we get 800 rushing, 400 receiving and 10 TD's out of him...it's a win. And we can say we can just draft a guy to do these things, but A. there is never a guarantee that guy is there when you want him, and B. the only decent back Elway ever got from the draft was a UDFA. I'd rather invest 8 mil and get a proven commodity. And there is still room to add guys like Breeland or Amukamara or Darron Lee.

I don’t have a problem with the Gordon signing but I’d rather we’d spent the 8 mil toward signing Logan Ryan or some other CB. Honestly, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the Lindsay/Freeman combo. No, Freeman hasn’t played as well as Lindsay but Freeman isn’t a “fast guy” either. He’s a downhill runner and I think he’s fine in that role.

I’m not against Gordon, but we probably could’ve gotten the same production for less with a later round draft pick. So far it’s the only signing/trade that has me scratching my head. I still think we need another CB.

I love this. Dude is a baller. 3.8ypc doesn't concern me given that booty oline he played behind. He's diverse. And he's an end zone magnet.

That's awesome. My buddy is a huge Saints homer and was scrapping all over Sanders last year cuz he hates that the 49ers surpassed them. Can't wait for him to suddenly change his mind.

yea. . . he might do okay with michael thomas taking some of the attention. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
