OK. You win. That said it better.

Hmmm, I think you have a bad feeling about the upcoming game because you possess preternatural abilities. However, King87 thinks it’s because we have lost 7 straight verses KC...duh! King is such a jerk sometimes.

Elway made that clear from the beginning, Lock would be competing for the backup job, not starter in 2019. However, his injury prevented even that happening.

That has zero to do with my comments on the restructure, because once Flacco was on the roster for week 1, as a vested veteran his salary was guaranteed, so there due to that, there was ZERO downside to the restructure and only more options open to the Broncos. Those that looked it as proof that Elway planned to use Flacco in 2020 simple don't understand the restructure or current salary cap rules.

Its YOU, and not Sportrac that doesn't understand:
Joe Flacco: Contract details by year

    Year: 2020
    Age: 35
    Base Salary: $20,250,000
    Restructure amount: $3,400,000
Cap Hit if on the roster: $23,650,000
Dead Cap if not on roster: $13,600,000
    Cash Details: $20,250,000($100,750,000)
I Highlighted in RED the amount of dead cap hit of $13 million if he's not on the roster in 2020. The only amount vested on Sept. 1 was his full 2019 salary. They couldn't cut him during the season and save on his game-day checks. All those amounts would be fully guaranteed.

(And, although they would save on game day checks any remaining unearned signing bonus would immediately be accelerated against the cap if he were cut or traded).

Like Flacco dead money matters? Granted they don't WANT to pay dead money but the savings on Lock tend to offset it.

Elway traded Keenum. Maybe he can find a trade partner for Flacco somewhere to lessen the hit. Or maybe he retires and Den gets lucky.

I don't think theyre not too worried about it and seeing Locks development to ensure he is the answer is the highest priority.

You're not being honest. It's been pointed out by Tned his deal is structured so that any dead money is spread over two years. I might be oversimplifying but I think gist of it is correct.

I doubt we can find a trade partner.

How much of his savings THIS year roll over to next year?

It's not Tned that doesn't understand.
