Ron Rivera (RR) posted a winning record as a head coach. 76 and 63, for a decent .546 winning percentage. He inherited a 2-14 team and took them to 6-10. That's not awful for year one. The next year they went 7-9, which while not great, isn't good or bad considering the context. He did 'okay' and sometimes okay is good enough when you're turning around a scrapheap team. If memory serves, the Panthers were still paying off the remnants of Jake Delhomme's contract. Just saying.
The Panthers went 12-4. That's pretty ******* good. The next year they won 7, lost 8, tied once. That's shitty. then 15-1 and a SB. They they sucked and won six games. Then they won 11. Now the yoyoing here is annoying, and while Cam Newton has started many games for him in these years, the past several seasons he's been physically limited and just gutted out the injuries that caused those limitations.
He's had some good defenses and some bad ones. Yeah, I wish that he was more consistent. But I think he was an above average coach, and will coach again. I wish him luck.
