I'm not going to be surprised or particularly disappointed if Lock comes out and throws 3 picks. I'm going to blame Elway and Fangio and not Lock.
They have not committed to him and done everything they could to get him to succeed. Quite the reverse. This has been a totally half-assed and grudging last minute commitment when they felt they have exhausted every other choice and have run out of other options.
Starting Drew Lock proves the utter futility of the entire Elway plan to "win now." So, naturally they are resisting like mad.
As far as I'm concerned if Lock fails it will be simply another indictment of John Elway. He COULD succeed if they were any good at developing him! He has athletic talent and unlike Paxton he is willing to do the work.
So, why can't he have success? His failures can only be attributed to the Broncos coaches not making his development a priority. "Is it a priority?" "Not really." -- Vic Fangio not 2 weeks ago.
