that was certainly the performance we've been waiting for out of this defense. . .

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Now imagine this defense with Carl Davis, Noah Spence, Telvin Smith and Jalen Ramsey.

Ramsey isn't worth two first round picks and change, especially with his baggage. He's only 'technically available' because of said baggage. He's arguably the best CB in the game. I wish we could secure him and know that he's going to ball out with us.

Would you trade Bolles and Bradley Roby for Ramsey? Because that’s where they’re going to be drafting.

FYI: CB Roby plays for Houston Texans.

Ok, but not the point I was making.

I’m making a point of WHERE Roby and Bolles was taken in the 1st round, would you trade those kinds of talents for one Ramsey talent? The answer is yes, it’s rhetorical.

Right, but it's more complicated than that. He wouldn't be available if he wasn't an issue. On top of that, it's not just about collecting superstar talent - it's also about constructing a complete roster.

It’s about collecting superstar talent, always has been and always will be. They can get as nuanced as they feel like with the backups/ST’s scrubs but they aren’t winning SB’s with an 8-8 mindset.

Tell them we’ll give you two #1’s but you have to throw in the rights to Telvin Smith too.

They definitely won't do that. You're a silly ******* and I love you.

You can get nuanced with above average talent, too. The Steelers have had the most talented offense in the league for awhile, they didn't win shit, even with a pass rush. Mostly because their QB is an idjit.

I love talent. But the talent has to play. For reference, I still Talib. TO THIS DAY!

i'm imagining it with bradley chubb and bryce callahan. . .

in fairness, chicago did go out and add khalil mack to put them over the top. . . player development was at the heart of what they did there, though. . . getting the most out of guys like leonard floyd, akiem hicks, kyle fuller, eddie goldman, and eddie jackson was the backbone of their process. . . you can see it starting to take hold here, now. . . they've got guys like AJ johnson and mike purcell flying around, and demarcus walker just woke up. . . not saying i'm against acquiring more veteran talent, either. . . that needs to happen next year in free agency when we have a fat chunk of cap space, though. . . another strong draft is what we really need the most. . . no trading draft capital. . . draft and develop is the true key to long term success. . .

As for the offense--what a terrific run play design on the Lindsay TD run. I'd like for a MO or a Jaded or someone to take a look at that, my reaction was 'wow, good job Scangs on designing a deceptive play with vanilla personnel'. And that Fant ball-lost-in-the-sun int is partly on Flacco, partly on Scangs, and partly on Fant. Little details like that, I think a Manning or a Brady, maybe even a Rodgers or a Wilson, they would avoid that. Still, it falls mainly on the rookie TE. But hey, encouraging that Fant and Flacco had enough chemistry that Fant's blind route resulted in Flacco hitting him in the center of the nape of his neck!

Offense needs to score more than 16 next week. I'd put the number at 31. That would be a great time to roll on offense. Great win today!!

My financial advice: position yourself long on #32 jerseys...

Jano and Dalton Risner jerseys for everyone!
