I just hate how they're so controlling/proprietary. It's my damn phone, and I'll do with it what I see fit. That's the biggest reason I normally buy a Samsung or other Android based phone.
I'm not sure how more clear I could be!

You said they make a superior product while then explaining why it's not superior. It might be superior in the one area of certain tech specs, but if you're buying the Android, it's the overall superior product, at least as voted on by your wallet.

Fine. I should have referenced the hardware aspect of my comment initially.

    Now, G.F.Y.

I’ve never had an issue with my iPhone. I might not stick with apple though - the contract deal with a new phone always brought me back. Since that’s gone now...who knows.

Can someone help me understand what they do to apps on the Android that I can’t do on the iPhone? I’ve never understood this.

No. He said why he prefers to use another phone. Saying why he prefers to use a different phone is not to infer that the phone he chooses to use is superior than the one he doesn't. One does not equal the other.

Open sources versus closed source. Apple doesn't allow the latter.

Right. I get this, but what does that actually mean?

Why would you buy the inferior product when choosing between two things at pretty much the same price point?

As Joe said, he prefers the freedom that Android provides versus the more restrictive iOS. His personal preference of the operating system has nothing to do with his opinion of which product is superior.

Usability is just as important as specs though, if not moreso. Apple can have better specs while overall being a worse product due to usability. In any case, Joe has already said his original post sucked and should have been worded better.
