Isn't 'rebuilding' shorthand for 'find a franchise QB'?

It means a lot of things including allowing the QB's to actually play more than a handful of games.

It can also be shorthand for sell the farm and stockpile picks... but I suppose all of that is usually in an effort to find that franchise QB...

That's the heart of it. That, and stocking up on inexpensive young talent on the rookie contracts, and trying to hord assets like draft picks and cap space. It definitely entails not spending big money on mediocre veteran quarterbacks.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

These are some of the most excellent posts I have ever seen on this board. I fall into the ‘we have no franchise QB therefore we suck’ camp. I know it’s too simplistic but that’s how I feel. I am trying to give the team the benefit of the doubt on the tough learning curve of a new OC, DC, HC and the new systems all have brought with them. These things take time.

Who gets the blame? Fangio and the defense, imo.

Fangio cant get pressure with his scheme- so he needs to fix it- or at least how he plays the front 4. I do not care how weird the games are or how fast the other team gets the ball out. If they get the ball out, then press the WRs. Make them get tackled right when they catch it. Why sit back and sit back. His scheme for the front 4 is ineffective and we cannot just say well not every team will get the ball out fast enough....or we dont have the lead so we cannot rush the passer. That is super stupid and one sided. Find their strength and knock it out. Find our weakness and fix it.

Right now everything is beating his defense. Everything.

He gets the most blame. the offense looks better than it has in years (not saying much). His defense should not be this bad. Stupid VJ and his DC had a better defense.

Fix the defensive pressure and turnovers and this team can still make 10 wins. Dont and this team is lucky to have 4. Fangio needs to unfangio the dline. (I did like that we had demarcus walker and von and chubb in though. That was a nice pressure pacakge, too bad it was only 3 players against 6. Everyone got double teamed but I like that personalle groupoing.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Yeah. Fangio is pissing me off something terrible. We paid von Miller like a quarterback, and drafted Chubb instead of one. this whole roster is put together for those guys to be our top playmakers. Can't be dropping them into freaking 5-yd hook zones, or using them to take away the dump off out in the flat on a regular basis. This offense just plain doesn't have the horses to go out score good teams on a week to week basis. Flacco's not that guy. Von and Chubb need to be our big-time weapons. Bend but don't break defense isn't going to get it done. We need some short fields in the worst way.

Teams that win the turnover battle win games. We have zero turnovers in our favor. That should be everything you need to know about an 0-3 start.

This weekend we get to face the Jagwads at home. They have a rookie QB. If we aren’t lighting him up and forcing him to beat us then Fangio should be fired on the spot. If I’m the HC/DC I blitz this fool every damned play until he beats it. I’m not kidding. I rush 5-6 defenders every play. Stop the run on the way to the QB. On paper, Minshew should be quaking in his boots to face our defense. We have 2 premier pass rushers and a solid secondary. His Oline isn’t good, either. We should own this game.

For all intents and purposes this should be the game the defense breaks out but Fangio and Donatell must drop the damn leash and release the hounds. No more bend but don’t break. Attack every down. Roll the line. I want to see Miller, Chubb, Reed and Jones, and Shelby Harris all rushing at the same time. A good old fashioned **** yo couch blitz and I wanna see it often!

Our defense is the strength of our team. It must lead us to wins.

If we’re gonna waste their talent like that, just go with a 4-3 base defense and let Chubb and Miller play DE. At least they’d rush the QB on passing downs...

We have talent. We don’t have the right HC. Fangio sucks.

"I hope you find some guys to protect that franchise QB", signed Andrew Luck (retired NFL veteran).

I like the way you think, Nomad. Maybe we can lure Luck out of retirement!

None of it matters if Elway doesn't learn from his repeated mistakes.
