Thirteen of Mitchell Trubisky’s 27 passes against the Broncos on Sunday were out in fewer than 2.0 seconds. Over the course of Weeks 1 and 2, 26 of 53 passes against the Broncos were released in fewer than 2.0 seconds
So is this the new excuse? So we’ve resigned ourselves to the fact that the Broncos will have no sacks this year as long as the other team gets the ball out quick? How on earth do we stop this amazing dink and dunk quick pass scheme? I mean, you’d think a guy who has spent 30+ years as a DC would have an answer...

The answer is, stop playing off and giving up everything underneath 5-8 yards at a time. Jam the receivers and disrupt the short route timing to force the QB to hold the ball a little longer so the pass rush is more effective. I mean shit, it ain’t rocket science. Oh, maybe put our best pass rushers on the field on obvious passing downs and actually have them pass rush vice drop in coverage. If we are bringing a 4 man rush on passing downs, it should be some combination of Miller, Chubb, Harris, Walker, Jones, and Reed. Blitzing occasionally is very effective too. Simmons had a clean rush at Trubisky that forced an incompletion on a well timed blitz yesterday. Wolfe and Gotsis are not penetrators and get stood up and the point of attack too often. Yeah they’re good vs the run, not the pass.

Our problems are scheme oriented except for ILB. More scheme oriented than personnel oriented, although they need to get that CB they got from NE up to speed quickly to replace Yiadom. This is easily fixable if we’re willing to fix it. We have almost as much talent as the Bears defense and they didn’t have a problem getting pressure and I didn’t see Mack dropping in coverage too often.

Always nice to know that no matter how terrible you are at your job, you're emminently irreplaceable.

    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I agree, but didn't the officials call an identical penalty against a Chicago defender earlier in the game. I didn't see the game, other than a few replays, but I heard a number of commentators talking about the two calls (one against Chicago and one against Denver) and saying they were both horsesh*t calls that shouldn't have been made. The commentators also indicated that each team scored points because of the horrible penalty called against the other team's defensive player. Although it doesn't ease that pain and frustration, at least it sounds like the horrible officiating calls was consistent for both teams.

I was extremely surprised when I heard the commentators say that the Denver Broncos haven't had a sack yet this season. How is that possible with the pass rushing talent the Broncos have on their defense? I have to assume that trend can't continue much longer because there is too much talent on the Broncos D.

Apparently, we’re playing a reactive, laid back style of defense with corners playing 8 yards off the ball in the age of the slant and screen. It’s really brilliant if you think about it, because it will lead right to a top 5 pick.

I'm not sure how anyone can be salty about the penalty or the 1000ms gift, this is a bad football team that is sleeping in the bed that it shit.

I don't remember Denver ever playing that style of defense before, especially given the presence of Von Miller, Chubb, etc. I haven't seen much of either of the Broncos games this season, but I would have expected Vic Fangio to either (1) structure his defense to best accentuate the talents of his best defensive players and/or (2) draft/sign defensive players who fit the style of play he wants his defense to implement. I can definitely understand the anger and frustration of you and the other the Broncos fans. Hopefully, the Broncos will reward your passion and patience by playing better and having more success as the season progresses!
