Thread: Jets QB Darnold (mononucleosis) out indefinitely

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will be sidelined indefinitely after being diagnosed with mononucleosis, coach Adam Gase announced Thursday.

Trevor Siemian will start Monday night against the Cleveland Browns.

Gase hinted that Darnold could miss several weeks. He suggested the earliest likely return on Week 5 at the Philadelphia Eagles, following their Week 4 bye. They play at the New England Patriots in Week 3.

Look at that guy in the background. If that's not the face of a scorned lover, I don't know what is.

Siemian will likely look good initially - get a nagging injury - and look like a scrub from that point thereafter.

A couple games where he looks way better than expected wouldn't surprise me at all.
