Default Suspicions grow that Antonio Brown to the Patriots didn’t happen out of the blue on Saturday

The Steelers were determined not to trade receiver Antonio Brown to the Patriots or to any other team in the AFC North. And now, of course, Antonio Brown plays for the Patriots.

Both Adam Schefter of ESPN and Mike Giardi of NFL Network report that the Patriots did indeed try to trade for Brown in March, but the Steelers resisted their overtures. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Patriots actually offered a first-round pick for Brown.

While the only good news is that the Steelers won’t have to face Brown tonight in New England, the Patriots get a major boost. And they get Brown without giving up trade compensation, without paying Brown $30 million in guaranteed money, and with a potential compensatory draft pick in 2021, if Brown leaves in free agency after this season.

Oh, it’s fishy as all get up. But what are they gonna do? Take a third round pick two years from now from New England? Still worth it.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Default Patriots reportedly offered first-round pick for Antonio Brown trade, AB hired consultants to 'accelerate' release

The Patriots are inevitable. Antonio Brown was always going to New England, the second he was released, and everyone in the entire NFL knew it or seemed to know it or at the very least suggested it. So it wasn't a shock when Brown, freshly cut by the Raiders, signed a $15 million deal with the Patriots within hours of his departure from Oakland.

Conspiracy theories abound as a result of Brown's move and a Sunday morning report that the Patriots tried to trade for Brown in March but were rebuffed by the Steelers should only add fuel to that tinfoil hat fire.

You misunderstand exactly how much everything has been a fraud from the beginning. He cultivates the reputation of being completely out of control, but then when the true story comes out we see he was angling to get out of Pittsburgh and go to NE all along.

Everything he has done the last 2 years, all the antics, all the tantrums were all deliberate. He studied social media to figure out what to do to force his teams to trade and release him.

He wasn't insane. He was simply totally ruthless and uncaring. Gruden went out on a limb to bring him in and championed him all along. As much as I hate the Raiders, that was pretty manipulative what Brown did to screw this guy who traded for him.

It was all part of his plan. You saw that in his reaction in that video about his release where he's dancing and singing "free! Free!"

That was a man celebrating triumph in a long cherished plan.

Just like with Randy Moss, he'll be a model citizen in New England.

Raiders very quietly tried to trade Antonio Brown on Thursday, two days before his release. Couldn’t find any takers bc of drama and his contract.

Nobody was stupid enough to take AB if he would simply openly rebel and force them to release him, so he could sign with the Patriots.

Everybody could see this coming. I'd bet every single NFL GM would have anticipated this move.

I am sure it would not happen, but at the least, I would like to see NE have to give Oakland their 3rd & 5th round draft picks next year to replace the ones Oakland gave Pittsburgh for the jerk.

Yea...this just basically lends credence to my suspicions that there was some tampering involved.

I wouldn't. Personally, I would like to see Oakland trade all of their draft choices in the next two drafts for the rights to Andrew Luck, only for him to stay retired forever.

No. This was all done on purpose with a goal in mind.

Guess Pittsburgh wishes they took NE's first round pick.
