Thread: Surprise Cut Predictions

I love me some DT - I’m curious as to why he looked so good at the end of preseason - and in the right role I’d love to have him back.

According to Twitter, we have no interest in bringing him back.

Bro he looked good because he was schooling a 4th string D. He has no place in Denver other than Ring of Fame.

New backup QB Brandon Allen a 6th round pick by Jax in 2016. Has no regular-season experience
. Completed 12 of 19 for 162 yards in Rams' preseason week 3 games vs. Broncos, who are obviously impressed
The Broncos apparently like his upside far better than Hogan's skillset. Let's face it. If Flacco goes down, this team is up a creek without a paddle. A mediocre backup with NFL experience isn't going to change that. Might as well pick up the guy you think has the most upside.

Thanks Ziggy, that does make sense and given what is probably out there, it really makes sense.

That was a much earlier report citing a “league source”, whoever that may be. More recently our more trusted beat reporters have said otherwise. Here’s one:

God please no. Den has a very young group of talented WRs and their growth would only be stunted.

NYG were supposed to be interested too

Despite the really dubious incident with that car crash - DT is a good mentor for our young WRs and a Ring of Famer. Probably second only to Rod Smith ever to play the position here.

It's clear he doesn't have much left in the tank - if anything - but it would be nice to close the book on his noteworthy career as a Bronco.

I'm personally relieved I won't have to watch him catching passes for the Pats (edit - although I’m reading there could be mutual interest in him going back there mid season).

As weak as the roster is this year depth-wise they could make room. Who's growth would it be stunting? Hamilton? BFD.

He likely will be catching passes from Thom. They keep saying it. DT will likely be re-signed by the Pats after week 1. That way they don’t have to guarantee his salary for the entire season.

Thanks Horse, that's what I was thinking. It's the old vet loop. Sign after the season starts and no guaranteed salary.

Well it is Pro Football Talk which is kind of like tabloid version of news. Every great once in awhile they get something right but most of the time they're dead wrong.

It doesn't make sense to me bring him back because all that would do potentially is get in the way of the development of our young receivers.
