I disagree. Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but we have that luxury and it clearly wasn't worth it. They're no further ahead than they were before Luck, they're actually worse.

I liked Luck, always have. This sucks, for the Colts and for him.

The #Colts have known that QB Andrew Luck was seriously mulling retiring for at least two weeks. He’s married, he plans to travel the world, and once the love for the game waned, it sounds like he wanted to step away. So, he did.

    and there is this -

Kind of my feelings as well with the addition that Indy could have done anything and had the luxury of taking Luck but it doesnt mean they actually made the right choice. Tough break for them but they never got out of him what they actually invested in and wanted.

It was 100% the right decision at the time, come on man. Manning was in his mid 30s, had a serious injury, and the best QB prospect in decades was there to be picked. 32 out of 32 GMs would have done the same thing.

Manning won another SB. Played in 2.

How many did Luck play in?

Oh the colts had that info at their disposal at the time they had to make that decision? Cool. So if I dig up threads from 2012 you were criticizing that decision at the time?

Yes, it didn't wind up working out. But it was a no brainier decision at the time.

Be my guest. I'm against tanking. Never a good idea IMO.

No they didn't have that info. We do, and it was the wrong move.

    Again, I'm against tanking.

glorious. . . he's just too good to play for irsay's sorry ass. . .

now they can get the #1 pick, like they always do when there's a quarterback. . . they take tua or trevor. . . them we swoop in once again, and trade a pick for luck's rights. . . and win not just one ring with him, but several, since he's still just hitting his prime. . .

and for the third time, we give it to the colts long and hard!

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I wouldn't be surprised to at least see talk of a comeback after a season or two. He's clearly young enough

What are you talking about? Manning was injured. It's not like they benched him healthy to tank for luck.
