Theres no benefit of doubt. Simply that if Bolles is amongst the worst and Peters is amongst the best- they were separated by 1 penalty.

In other words, if we were able to somehow trade Bolles for peters straight up- we would still be seeing the same number of penalties. And looking at most of the prominent LTs in the game they all are within 2 to 3 penalties of Bolles. So 0.18 penalties per game less than bolles.

Say he has bad technique, poor footwork, lazy, whatever. But the penalties aspect, it is for naught.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I wonder if the penalties aren't a little different in context - like mostly Bolles holds because he's beat in coverage, whereas Peters -this is just hypothetical- holds more on running plays, or something else.

Does context matter here? I mean, 10 yards is a drive killer regardless of context.

I don't know if it does or doesn't. I'd rather have a LT who -if they have to hold- holds on running plays than pass protection, though. I'm just thinking out loud, Slim.

I hear ya. Overall I was encouraged by what I saw last night, the OL being the one exception.

Consider the 40 yard completion and 10 yard penalty = half a football field so yes context matters.

Yeah, but not all passes are 40 yard completions and not all runs are 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

I get it. You can't have penalties on big plays, but that's not really the discussion we are having. At least I don't think it is.
