Default There's going to be a new Tool album.

I'm really only middle-to-upper-middle in any Tool fanboy scenario - but the mild intrigue on a promise of the first album in 13 years was delivered on by the new song:

    Fear Inoculum

"High Concept" - but Adam Jones' guitar work always gives me pause.

They're quietly one of the biggest bands out there so this seems new-thread worthy - but feel free to merge.

I've been hoping for this for quite a while, and the first track absolutely blew me away

Undertow and Lateralas were great albums, will have to dip back into their other albums and check out the new one.

Maynard announced on Rogan's podcast last Friday that they were releasing all of their music on to all streaming platforms. By the end of the weekend all Tool albums in the top 10 iTunes downloads. I contributed to that. Pumped for the new Album. But not as pumped as I was for the new Whitechapel or Slipknot album (which is available on iTunes right meow and I'm listening to it).

Ditto. First track is 1) immediately Tool and 2) somehow at the same time new-sounding

    I'm interested.

It dropped, and it's pretty epic.

It's more Brahms or Prokofiev than Tool, but I like it. I was disappointed by the lack of asskick--I can't point to any moment where I thought 'oo, successor to Lateralus as best Tool song with moments that exert a certain sheer power'--but as soon as I finished I wanted to listen again.

The experimental stuff is the best they have ever done..the catchy rock is not there in general. More mature and solid from start to finish and all points between. Non-ecperimental stuff is a bit samey, but it's good.

So...their least catchy but tightest. Production skill is off the charts.

I'll have to let this one marinate before any final judgment, but it's certainly a good album.
