Just watched Bama/ND circa 1973 ... I can’t believe how far the game of cheerleading has come in 46 years.

Cant wait until it drifts into high school.
Well, for me anyway. I believe what happens in the NBA will happen in CF where shoe companies and such steer all the players to whatever market they want them to be ... it will make Tulane and Cu even more insignificant.
Picture Mid-80’s Notre Dame with 5-Star recruits on their JV squad.

Interesting perspective.
I was thinking in more terms of players losing their drive and motivation. Right now, they all play for the chance to be drafted in the NFL and getting rewarded there financially. But if you start paying them at the college level it wont mean as much to them because then it just becomes a job at that point. One of the things i love about college football and basketball is the purity of the passion behind it. Obviously there are some loopholes when teams cheat and what not but for the most part they all go out and play for the passion of their schools and pride. I think paying them would strip that away personally.
I don't know either way. This is what I do know - at some schools these players are at least mini-celebrities. So they will be able to do things like trade autographs for tattoos (remember when the Ohio State Qb got in trouble for that/he also traded some of his OSU swag, too but he owned it) or get minor money for making appearances. It will sometimes be enough to bring in enough money to matter. Maybe it's just extra spending money, or for some players it's more money to support their families at home.
I agree with you that some college players will be able to make some big money. At the height of his run, Johnny Manziel would have been making some dough. I doubt it's even close to what pros make, but what about Tebow at the height of his run? There will be some guys who can make some cash.
I'm happy for the players. A person should be able to earn off of their talents, work ethic and intangibles, even if their intangibles are just being a celebrity due to athletic ability.
