    Default Bullying/harassment

    All,

It has come to my attention that since the retiring of some of our moderator staff we have been letting too much go, especially where it comes to gender harrassment and bullying of others.

After some discussions with moderators and others I completely agree.

In order to fix it I ask, first and foremost, that we knock the bullshit off. If someone makes it clear the jokes are not appreciated or reciprocated and they just wish to be left alone that should happen.

Whether we're talking about the few women we have left, the recent stuff about Cousins, P&R beef, etc.

We aren't a big community as it is and we shouldn't accept this type of treatment of others here and we damn sure shouldn't be OK with members walking away out of frustration.

We've long given more leeway in the lounge but that wasn't supposed to extend to personal attacks and bullying.

It's my fault for letting it go as much as it did. My apologies to all involved and we're correcting it.

I will immediately begin searching for another mod or two, please send me nominations and let me know if you're interested and we will move forward.

Please, stop harassing people that have made it clear they're not thinking this is fun anymore, we're driving people away.

Mods should be voted in by the community.

Choosing someone whos already biased or part of a clique or accused of that is useless no?

Moderating is a big thankless job too and a lot of work!

    Appreciate this post Dav.

People have beem crossing lines with regularity.

    Stop it!
Davii said we are going to lose the few women we have left. Don't chase Mo away and dwindle that down further!
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Does my dislike of Flacco prevent me from being a mod?

On a serious note, props Davii! I like this forum, but it has gotten lax, so thanks for making a effort to fix it, I salute you

With the prevalence of social media many have abandoned this place. I think the forum public here has to be more tolerant of thoughts and views in general. People are too quick to throw venom at the slightest of difference in all kinds of subjects, everyone gets so defensive over... anything... And its all worth... Nothing.

I'd contend we've lost more good posters to over-moderation and catering to a whiny minority than we have to bullying.

I think message boards in general are just dying due to the rise of places like Reddit and Twitter to talk about sports. I don't think any change in how this place is moderated will really reverse that trend. Every message board is naturally going to have attrition. What's happening is hardly anyone actually joins message boards anymore, for the reasons listed above. The few message boards I still use pretty much all mostly consist of the same people who have been there for over a decade.

Thats actually a valid point, even most music message boards that i am a part or was a part of are a dying breed. There are so many now that can be created on the dime by anyone so the over saturation has played a part in thinning out membership.

I agree with all of this - which is why we ought to be sending thank you cards to anyone who is still a contributing member to the community... Instead we have this weird misguided approach where we feel like we're doing (someone?) a favor by trying to regulate the interactions between like 25 people who all "know" each other...

I think it's different when you've got some random troll who isn't a member of the community negatively contributing -- but on the balance the moderators get it wrong as often as they get it right and I'm arguing we'd be better off to scrap the idea...

Anyway - I really am not losing any sleep about it, and I don't contribute as much as I used to anyway -- I just think it's silly that we still ban people who have literally been here for a decade.

It's a tough balance, because you'd probably also lose members who dislike the more unmoderated approach. I'm not convinced any version of more or less moderation would have much if any impact on member attrition.

I'm convinced that moderators do more harm than good to MY message board experience... Which doesn't necessarily mean you whiners aren't entitled to your opinions as well.
