It would make for some fascinating strategy. Backup QBs would become a vital roster spot.
Bill Williamson:
"The Broncos went from one of the more attractive organizations in the NFL to one in total disarray. McDaniels will go down as one of the most reviled figures in Denver sports history".
Prepare for a lockout next year. Players never gonna go for this.
"I may not be a mathematician, but I can count to a million." - Shannon Sharpe
Roster would need to be expanded by several players
The Plan at the moment:
Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).
Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
The only thing that's dumber than this proposal is having a 53 man roster and only being able to dress 46 on gameday.
I kinda like funky new proposals like this. It will never pass, but it's fun to think about. Imagine being so bad that you're the team everyone sits their starting QB against. Would be kinda funny.
Utterly stupid but they probably know it will get laughed down. Ultimately plants the idea of an 18 game season in everyone’s heads while they try to think of a real way to get it done
16 is perfect. The schedule practically writes itself each year. Grow it to 18 without expansion and it's a total mess. And, no, I don't want to see expansion either. If London wants a team, move the Jaguars to the AFC East (Miami to AFC South) and let Kahn's team continue it's eventual drift to the British Empire. Switching divisions is because there are direct flights from London to Boston, NYC and Toronto which will make scheduling those games far easier than flying to Indy and Nashville.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
Sounds like a cash grab.
I assumed it was just have 2 preseason games and 18 reg season games.

Of course it's a cash-grab! When is the NFL NOT a "cash grab?" The whole thing has made every single one of them billionaires several times over.
And how do you think good ol' Roger, who has a $40m a year contract to justify as league commissioner, is gonna do to make earnings go up that extra 1% from 5% which it is now (Bloomberg) to meet his 6% a year target for 2027? He actually has to increase revenues more than 6% because he's now slightly behind."Bloomberg estimates the NFL earned around $15 billion during the 2018 season. This is up from estimates of $14.2 billion in 2017 and $13.3 billion in 2016. And the league is showing no intentions of slowing down. Commissioner Roger Goodell has targeted $25 billion in revenue by 2027, or 6% annual growth."
Yup. You guessed it. More games.
That's how the NFL works. It's not a democracy. The owners run everything and the players have no say. You gonna stop watching the NFL if they go to 18 games? Me neither.
I'm still going to watch. So, as far as they are concerned they've already gotten away with it.
For those of you saying "the players will never agree to it!" I was just listening to Tom Nalen and Mark Schlereth on the radio yesterday and they were saying: "You dangle a bunch of money in front of me in the form of increasing the salary cap from increased revenues, I'll go for it."
They want more money. They will agree.
Q: "What about player safety? Wouldn't you be concerned about the impact on your health from extra games?"
Tom Nalen: "No. I figured it comes with the territory. I'm gonna take care of my family. Probably by the time you get to the NFL most of the damage has already been done anyway."
THat's not true by the way medically, but the players will take the extra money and shrug off any medical risk from playing more -- even if the league does not adopt the 2 games off rule.
greedy-ass owners are retarded. . .
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
