Damn 1995 was a long time ago. I remember when Pat said in the presser "Im giving Mike full control over football operations. Its what i want him to do." and the rest was history. Damn i feel old.

Default Broncos past and present remember Pat Bowlen

DENVER — In the hours after news spread that Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen had passed away, the players who had known him well picked up their phones.

They texted. They called. They took to Twitter and Instagram.

There was some sadness in their hearts as they remembered the man they knew as "Mr. B," but as they started recalling the moments that endeared him to them, they were overcome with a different feeling.

"It’s a sad day," Terrell Davis said Friday, "but it’s a time to celebrate the man’s life."

Default Bowlen's close relationship with Shanahan pivotal to Broncos' success

CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. — From notable to common, Pat Bowlen impacted the lives of many.

Perhaps no relationship meant more to the success of the Denver Broncos, though, than the one between Bowlen and Mike Shanahan.

They became close soon after both joined the Broncos weeks apart in 1984 -- Shanahan as head coach Dan Reeves’ new receivers coach and Bowlen as the franchise’s new owner.

“I talked to him almost every day,’’ Shanahan said in a sit-down interview with 9NEWS on Friday afternoon from the resplendent foyer of his luxurious home. “Throughout my whole career as an assistant coach and as a head coach, Pat would come in and we’d sit down and talk. We had that type of relationship, which was fun.

“Pat wasn’t a guy who tried to interfere. He just wanted to make sure he was on top of everything that was going on. We talked about the players, how they practiced. What you saw about their potential. I don’t care if it was the quarterback position, or running back position, defensive line, he was inquisitive on, ‘Hey, tell me what you think.’

Default Pat Bowlen's unprecedented circumstance could lead to HOF Gold Jacket/ring clarification

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is reviewing its Gold Jacket and ring policy given Pat Bowlen’s unprecedented circumstance.

According to Hall of Fame spokesman Pete Fierle, Bowlen is the first Hall of Famer to die between his election and induction.

That Bowlen was alive when he was elected as a contributor by a Hall of Fame voting committee on February 2 is potentially significant because HOF policy states only living inductees are to receive the Gold Jacket and Hall of Fame ring.

The policy drew considerable controversy following the inductions of the late Junior Seau in 2015 and Kenny Stabler and Dick Stanfel in 2016. Those three players, though, were elected posthumously and their family members did not receive a Gold Jacket or ring.

Default Bowlen Notebook: 'Mr. B' honored with helmet decal, but he no doubt would prefer money for players over name on stadium

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — ENGLEWOOD – It figured Broncos players would have either a commemorative decal on their helmets or patch on their game jerseys this year in honor of their late owner Pat Bowlen.

The NFL has allowed such decorative tributes before. But convention suggested the Broncos would have used Bowlen’s initials -- either “PDB” for Patrick Dennis Bowlen or simply “PB” for Pat Bowlen.

Instead, in what promises to be a far more popular look, the Broncos will use Bowlen’s nickname, “Mr. B” on their decals that will be placed on the back of players’ helmets.

“That’s how he was known,’’ Broncos president Joe Ellis said in an interview with 9News. “The players always referred to him as that. And he liked that. He had a real presence with the players whether it was training camp visits or whether it was the little college pick ‘em pool he did with Steve (Antonopulos, the team’s head trainer) and John (Elway) and others in the training room area.

Default Broncos to honor Bowlen; won't rename stadium

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos are planning several ways to honor team owner Pat Bowlen , who died last week at 75 after a long battle with Alzheimer's just two months shy of his enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Renaming their stadium in his honor isn't one of those.

The team has lacked a naming rights partner for several years, and an online effort pushed by Broncos broadcast partner Orange & Blue 760 called for fans to sign a petition asking the team to rename the stadium "Pat Bowlen Field at Mile High."

"I don't think he would want that. So, I don't think we're going to do that," team president and CEO Joe Ellis said Monday. "We've honored him with a statue, with a Ring of Fame pillar, his plaque on the Ring of Fame. We'll do some things this season to honor him. But if we were to put his name on the stadium, I can remember him when he knew I was off-track saying, 'Joe, just a second.'
