Default HOF determines Pat Bowlen's family will receive his Gold Jacket, ring

DENVER — The family of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen, the only Pro Football Hall of Famer who died between his election and induction, will receive his Gold Jacket and Hall Of Fame (HOF) ring, sources told 9NEWS.

The HOF confirmed in the last 24 hours to members of the Bowlen family and the Broncos that he would receive the artifacts. The HOF then confirmed to 9NEWS through a statement that it will deliver the Gold Jacket and ring to the Pat Bowlen estate. The Bowlen family’s plan is to then display his Gold Jacket and ring in the front lobby of the Broncos’ UCHealth Center headquarters so the mementos can be enjoyed by fans.

"Pat Bowlen is the first individual to pass away between the time he was elected and formally enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,'' said Hall of Fame spokesman Pete Fierle. "The process was underway to create his Hall of Fame Gold Jacket and Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence.

"As previously planned prior to his death, the Gold Jacket and Ring of Excellence will be presented to the Pat Bowlen estate to be displayed in the front lobby of the UC Health Training Center.

I think it's a little odd that they don't make those things for every deceased inductee. I'm sure any family of a deceased hall of famer would like to have those mementos to honor the memory of the inductee.

I get no jacket - that'd be kind of dumb to issue one. But no ring? That's really stupid.

Hopefully they at least give them some sort of plaque or something.

Did Pat piss off someone? No disrespect meant, just so weird he wasn't honored earlier. Maybe I'm tin-foiling this one.

In any event, he's the best sports franchise owner ever, I can't think of any other owner that inspires like him.

No. He should have been honored years ago before his cognizant decline and diagnosis. Instead, ******* Jerry Jones had to get in.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
