Sources: #Raiders coach Jon Gruden and GM Mike Mayock sent their scouts home for the weekend and they are not expected to return by draft time. The belief is they don’t know who to trust and wanted to clear the room.

Default Report: Oakland Raiders send scouts home due to lack of trust

The Oakland Raiders may not be allowing a camera inside the war room during the NFL Draft, but that apparently isn't the only move they are making to avoid leaks.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock just did something unprecedented by sending all of the scouts home for the weekend. They aren't expected back in the building before the draft. According to Rapoport, the belief is that the pair don't know who they can trust, so they wanted to clear the room.

While the actual reasons behind sending every single scout home for the weekend and possibly until next week aren't actually known at this time, the move is not a good look for the second-year coach and the first-time GM. This makes it appear that they don't have control over the room and that they are well aware that one of the employees will be willingly leaking information about upcoming picks. Was the move made because the Raiders are ready to draft a young quarterback but don't want the information leaking to the media?

As bad as things might sometimes get here, at least we'll never be the raiders.

Three picks in the first round and they don't have a draft board together yet?
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

    Raiders gonna raider
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

    From Rapoport.

"From what I understand, Mike Mayock, the new general manager, and coach Jon Gruden are sending their scouts away from the facility," Rapoport said on Friday, "home for Easter weekend. That is not uncommon in the NFL. A lot of buildings are like that. But from what I am told, what makes this uncommon is that they are not expected back before the draft. And the reason for this is because Mike Mayock does not know who he can trust with his draft secrets. He does not know who he can talk to, does not know who he can confide in. And it is no surprise that there is going to be some significant turnover in the scouting department for the Raiders after the draft. Based on all of that, it seems that Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden are going to be among the very very very few people in the know for the Raiders, and physically in the building come draft time."
lol the world is acting like they put their scouts in a long distant time out.

Maybe the Raiders will draft an overweight PK in the first round with date rape charges or a quarterback who hates the game and would rather smoke pot than play football or a wide receiver with lightning speed and buttery hands.

They've done all of them before.

That place kicker had a nice career for himself.

And as for that fat QB, well you can't win them all. Except when you're in Denver.

Sending scouts home for Easter holiday? I think all if not most.

The unusual part is not having them in the building for the draft. Understandable if they have their board ready. Plus most or all of these probably won't be their scouts next year.

The turnover is worrisome. Perhaps needed, but still. It doesn't point toward good things.

I think it's a case of bringing in their own guys. Can't say I'm too upset given the recent years.
